That's why he's a wildcard. His decision making isn't always the best, but he can make all the throws. Can he be coached up? What does he know about defenses? Is it the talent around him or him? I don't think he's the clear cut number one, like others do. There's too many unknowns. It's very early, though. All three of the top seniors are potentially better than Goff. Who knows? Like I said, don't count out Hackenberg, either. He's got everything needed to be a franchise quarterback. Problem is, he's lost a lot of talent in his short time at Penn State.
There are no franchise QBs in this draft. They're all gonna get picked apart [from now until after the combine]. Time to take another DE/LB! Colts own the division and the Texans. They need to get after Andy Luck! Joey Bosa? What's better than having one J.J. Watt? Two! Robert Nkemdiche! DeForest Buckner? DE, Oregon Myles Jack of all trades! Shawn Oakman? Read somewhere Hack has lead feet? Other than that, I believe he could be okay but would he be ready to start Game 1?
Dude's accuracy is horrendous. Not sure why anybody would be looking at him as a bonafide prospect at this point.
I didn't watch, but those who did were raving about his performance. Like you said, the box score doesn't really show a dominant performance, but maybe that doesn't tell the whole story.
Hack is horrible. How much longer can you blame his teammates around him. He is like Ryan Mallet except without the upside.
Goff is still the top QB. He had 5 picks…a couple of them were tipped balls…and one of them hit the ground (poor call by the officials to call it an INT). Also, he threw a dart right into his receivers hands for a TD, but the WR couldnt bring it in. His offensive line was in no way, shape, or form talented enough for that defense…he was basically getting his ass handed to him on every drop back. All things considered, that game wasn't nearly as bad as the 5 picks sounds. He had his team right there to win the game against a top ranked team.
Hackenberg and Penn St were no match for Cardale. Who's next up in line? They line 'em up and Cardale takes them down.
Sounds like you're making excuses for Goff. I don't think Cardale has ever had a 5 pick game. That's just terrible.
He'd never get the chance. Goff has never been benched, Cardale gets himself benched every other game.
