Will Wentz fall to the 2nd round? I'd like to get a Off Tackle or Nose with the 1st pick, then a QB. Only because I don't think Goff will be around after 4 picks.
Either the experts have some kind of agenda or they don't know what they're talking about. Paxton Lynch is the best QB in this draft. Really the only one worthy of a top ten pick.
Yes. I would take him. You need to hoard as many QBs as you can, hoping that one of them turns into a franchise QB.
I checked some mocks, a few have only ONE QB (Goff) in the first round!!! If this holds, new plan should be snag Elliot at 22 and then trade up to grab an available QB late 1st/early 2nd. Either Lynch, Wentz. You get your BIG 3 offensive players (w/Nuk) who can grow together. That's the best case scenario IMHO!!!
ESPN's Mel Kiper has: 2. Goff (Cleveland) 15. Lynch (Rams) 22. Wentz (Houston) 3 going in the first round
He's one of the 3 best QBs at Ohio State, and that's not nothing. That's more of an accomplishment than 99% of people who play football will ever achieve. But it doesn't mean he'll be good in the NFL, because he won't.
If the plan is to get a QB, you don't get cute with it. If only 1 (or 2) QB has been taken by the time #22 comes around, you spend that pick on a QB. THEN maybe you try to trade back up for Elliott, not the other way around. You try to get cute with it and then you find you can't trade back up, or another team makes a better offer (because they have a higher 2nd round pick), or they trade up in front of you, and you don't end up with any of Goff/Lynch/Wentz and have to settle for Hackenberg which you could've gotten with your 2nd round pick anyway. If the QB is there, take him. If those 3 are gone, then you can spend that pick on Elliott and think about trading up for Cook if he falls to a spot where it's reasonable to trade up for him.
I think it'll play out similar. I don't think we're going to see a ton of QBs in the first round. I do think there's a pretty good chance at least one of Goff/Lynch/Wentz will be there at 22.
I wouldn't do the Clowney trade. Maybe next year if he doesn't have a good year. As fas as Wentz goes, I hope to God he falls to 22. If not, Hackenberg is a good consolation to me. Thing is, the Niners hiring Kelly is a good thing for the Texans. Kap and Gabbert should work in his offense, which would leave them not looking for a QB. That would theoretically leave the Browns and Rams choosing a QB before us. Browns choose Lynch. Rams choose Goff. Texans choose Wentz. Unless Wentz jumps them both, which could happen. Either way, I think we end up with one of my three, which makes me happy.
Don't forget about the Jets if they decide to move on from Fitzpatrick and Eagles if they decide to move from Bradford. Both are free agents.
if they really like a QB, they need to go get him instead of hoping he falls to you. we aren't in that position anymore. not having a stable QB has hurt our offense over the last two years. having to modify the offense to fit our musical chair QBs; we have yet to see the O at its full potential.
Well if there was a QB the team really liked, they'd have done that. Unfortunately there wasn't a QB they really liked that was worth going and getting in the opinion of the team.....of course they could have just gotten Carr when he fell to them, but apparently they were being stupid about that.

According to what the PFF staff would do, only one QB goes in the 1st round. https://www.profootballfocus.com/bl...owboys-49ers-each-draft-elite-wide-receivers/ If this happens, there will probably be four in the 2nd round. Teams don't have a problem picking backup QBs in the 2nd round or later. Lynch, Cook, Wentz, Hackenberg will probably go in the 2nd.
