It's probably just me but hack seems to have that IT factor. Big games big moments bright lights he don't fold. I have also heard he's a heck of a competitior also. There is only 2 QBs in this draft who I think could potentially be great QBs and that is hack and goff.
Connor Cook - QB - Spartans Per Walter Football's sources, "a number of evaluators don't really like [Michigan State senior QB Connor Cook]." "Sources say that Cook has good height, weight and delivery, but a number of evaluators don't really like him," the site noted. "They think he's too inaccurate and question his lack of leadership with his team not voting him a team captain. If one highly touted quarterback prospect slides like others have in years past, Cook could be the prime candidate." Walter Football's rankings sandwich Cook between the top two QBs (California's Jared Goff and Memphis' Paxton Lynch) and the developmental signal-callers they rank Nos. 4-5 (North Dakota State's Carson Wentz and Ohio State's Cardale Jones). WF mocks Cook No. 15 to the St. Louis Rams. Source: Walter Football Jan 13 - 12:58 PM
Mel Kiper's first mock draft 1.0 has us getting: 22.) Houston Texans Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota St. If you saw Wentz throwing it around in the SEC or Pac-12, you'd think he looked like a big-time QB prospect. At 6-foot-6 and nearly 235 pounds, he has a big arm, serious mobility and shows a willingness to be patient, move in the pocket, and keep his eyes down the field as things move around him. This is a guy who could be in the top-10 mix after the Senior Bowl and combine. Houston might end up thrilled if he's around this late.
I wouldn't mind Wentz/Cook/Hackenberg if they get a RB like Forte in FA. They absolutely need a running game if they're going to have QB not up to par.
I do like Forte but he is 30 already with a lot of miles on his body from running and receiving. Pass.
Wentz is the guy I'm kind of hoping we get. I have no confidence in the likes of Cook, Hackkenberg, or Jones (and I really wanted to like Cook), but I think that with Wentz, there's at least a chance he turns into something. Unless people don't bite on QBs too early (like 2014 aside from Bortles) and one of Lynch or Goff drops (I did see a mock today with Goff going #15 and us getting Lynch), I'd be happy with Wentz at #22.
Cook is kind of like Hackenberg with better production. Both have size and tools but both underwhelmed in college.
This is Christian Hackenberg going up against Michigan State's 26th ranked defense https://youtu.be/oCDkuKk1py0
He is absolutely the best FA RB. He still has a couple of good years on him. And by then we should have our rookie QB playing at a high level. I don't trust Chris Ivory. No way Green Bay lets Starks go. Same with Lamar Miller. And I still like Forte more than them.
I think Cook's probably is mostly attitude. He is tough and is a winner but doesn't look like a good team guy. He was my pick for the Texans before the Big Ten championship game.
Same. I'm sure Goff and Lynch are the two best prospects. Outside of them, we're left with Cook, Hack, and Wentz (I won't even consider Cardale Jones). Connor Cook's career was more meh than great, and Hackenburg had 1 good year out of 3. Yes, coaching changes and yes he was beat up because of a poor o-line, but still. So that leaves Wentz. I don't know a ton about him but have seen NDSU play a few times (and annihilate my SHSU Bearkats) and he always looked good. My big concern with him is that NDSU has for all of Wentz's career been much better than everyone else in the FCS. So he has had the advantage of always being on the side with more size and talent, and always better coaching when Craig Bohl was there. So how will he be when all else is equal? Tough for me to say. But, even with that concern, I like him more than Cook and Hack.
I like Hack. The ball fakes, touch, arm strength, not staring down receivers. He's fearless at throwing jump balls, which D.Hop would feast on. He relies on TE, which admittedly the Texans don't have much of.
Not sure who he is, but that was more of a highlight reel for #12... he turned most of Hacks passes into big plays.

So after they pick the first QB, what do they do if a good QB has dropped to say the 4th or 5th round? Do you bite the bullet and take, say Cook, in the fourth? I know that's a no-no but it will make things very interesting.
Its a video, not a stat line. Its a chance to see mechanics and composure against a good defense, like the 2 minute drive before the half, did you not see that?
