The CNN polster who was announcing these results was saying that the crowd polled about Hillary's speech was more skewed in her favor than those polled about Trump's speech. Not sure how much more the crowd skewed in her favor compared to Trump but it did at least.

I believe in taxes yes... I don't believe they should be used to pay other people's debts which is they original post that started this. Your post indicated that you think that is what taxes on the rich are for... you know the "liberal logic" the other poster was referencing.

I think the Dems did the best they could after the worst start to a convention ever. It's going to be impossible to unring the corruption bell that rang so loudly that first day. Hillary's defiant move to bring DWS in to her campaign validated the statements by the RNC about Hillarys gullible followers and further drove a credibility wedge with those who distrust Hillary.

As much as some want to sweep the corruption under the rug and then call the convention a success, the damage was done with the threat of more damage to come. Libs are going be walking on eggshells waiting for the next shoe to drop.

So I assume you are against corporate bailouts?

I think one of the problems conservatives and libertarians have is not being able to pull back from the self-centric view to see the nation as one system. Wealth and quality of life are relative terms, they don't just relate to the individual, they relate to the overall society. Our wealth depends on the collective efforts... road builders, civil servants, trash collectors etc. No matter what your drive and finances are you have no quality of life without the support of the society as a whole working well. The cumulative circumstances: health, poverty, educational opportunities, a trustworthy financial system, social order and justice, all add up to the perception of quality of life. That's the validation of national pride and patriotism.

We are a "nation" because we are all in this together, symbiotic and mutually supporting so that the whole is more than the sum. Those are the facts of the way the world works, it's the collective condition that defines the success or failure of a society not the individual successes.

Caricatures have some truth - it comes as Obama said from both the right and the left. In any case, this has been my opinion of her since the 90's - independent of other sources. From her speeches and decisions. I think she is well-intentioned, but there is a ruthlessness (call it practicality) to her as well.

I think it's both. She doesn't relate to people well but she is also cautious and calculated. Both are related to one-another. She doesn't take risks or will be bold because it's not in her nature - she's very logical and analytical. So emotional expression doesn't come naturally to her.

At the end of the day, people want to be led by a charismatic leader. This is why Clinton beat Bush & Dole, why Bush beat Gore and Kerry, and why Obama beat McCain and Romney - in all cases the more charismatic and likeable politician won. Hillary suffers in this department which is why people have an innate distrust for her.

I don't care so much on her stance on the issues, I vote for her because she isn't stuck in some stubborn belief system. She will work and listen to anyone which is great. She's highly intelligent, practical, and does care for people. I believe that about her. And that's enough for me to vote for her over Trump.

The progressive agenda isn't going to happen even if you had Sanders. Republicans will never agree to 95% of what is being proposed. This election is all about defending the turf and making that SCOTUS appointment. It is about maintaining the status quo versis letting this country slip into a darker place.

Chelsea should have worn something a little looser. I mean, if you just had a kid 5 weeks ago, don't wear a skin tight dress. Saw a lot of cottage cheese on the side/rear camera angles.

I'm a big time Hillary supporter. It's not because I agree with everything she supports. I'm more liberal socially and more conservative economically than her. I just find her practical. Bill Clinton's speech summed it it perfectly. She just keeps moving the ball forward. She take everything into account. She sees every side. She takes in new information even after she has taken a stance, and sometimes that causes her to change her stance. Some call that flip flopping, I call it being informed and open minded. I also think she truly cares about this country. She has an ego just like everybody who wants to be president, but I truly think she would be doing the same things even if she didn't get any credit or benefit for it.

And BigTexx's comments about Chelsea Clinton tell you all you need to know about him.

I suspect any thought of Trump avoiding debates stemmed from the (deluded) belief he was leading. The bump Clinton gets from the DNC should splash the cold water of reality on that and I suspect that the Trump team will soon be calling for debates as a hail Mary to get him back into the race.

I completely agree with you on this. Im very often turned off by charismatic people as I always end up finding them disingenuous and rarely as intelligent as they seem.

What turns me off about Hillary is her complete disregard towards the system. She entrenches the problems of the system.

Hillary does listen to anyone or care about anyone that doesn't get her a vote.

This is why I was for Bernie. The Republicans will never let his policies go through but he will curb the pay-to-play bs.

Seems she has captured your eye and perhaps Hillary no longer dominates your thoughts?

Seriously, wingnuts have tried to criticize the children of Democrat politicians for many years. First Jimmy Carter's daughter, then Chelsea, and even The Obama daughters. While I reckon it is a price that the children of politicians must bear, its still inappropriate if not offensive. The family members of politicians should be off-limits of political squabbles.

You can tell that texxx is falling apart and crumbling before our eyes. This election cycle really did a number on him. His own party was hijacked by Donald Trump, someone a true Republican should be hesitant to support. He can't stand the fact that Obama has skyrocketing approval ratings, and that unemployment is at an all-time low.

He knows that if Hilary wins this time around (which is the likely result), his Republican party will undergo a massive reform, all the while, the Supreme Court will be liberal.

His trolling has gotten worse and worse as he's slowly losing hope. He's not even witty or clever anymore. He's resorted to insulting Clinton's daughter. What we are seeing is history leaving old timers like bigtexxx behind.
