Jordan Ray is the new guy on MLB dot com's Astros beat.

Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said team is looking for opening to bring up AJ Reed. That's about as bland as it gets Mr Ray IF someone is injured he would be "near the top" of the list Who are these guys "nearer" the majors for 1B?
If they aren't going to use Kemp at all I'd send him down and bring Reed up. Play Reed against RHPs and in turn move Gattis to just platoon with Castro (while also getting backup C opportunities against RHPs when Castro needs a rest). Against LHPs, can use the DH to give main guys rest while Worth enters the lineup as the super util.
Luhnow said he doesnt want Reed to be anywhere not playing everyday. Said when he comes up wants him to play against everyone Think they view Reed as a lot more important long term than Kemp so more worried about his PT
It won't happen (this early in the season, at least), but I wouldn't mind Luhnow trading a couple pieces for an upgrade somewhere, with the outgoing pieces creating the roster space needed to bring up Reed.
I'd agree, but based on his comments earlier today I think they will pretty much stand pat unless they find a great deal or have some injuries. To call up Bregman and Reed they can just demote Kemp and Worth.

WOPR averaged out all the prospect lists and Whitley came in at #5.34 in the Astros org and #97.62 in mlb.
it's tricky...they aren't going to trade marwin. and they aren't going to trade valbuena while he's hot (i wouldn't think). that makes it tough to unload the depth that's in reed's way to get him in the lineup. most logical thing for the remainder of this season is him playing a ton of DH, and mixing in some 1b starts.
