Harper just hasn't proven it as long. Through 5 games he somehow has 7BB:1K. If he is somehow still improving, that is scary.

People forget than Harper is younger than Kris Bryant.

A Correa deal is moot not because of the asking price it would require, but because Astros fans would burn down MMP if we actually did trade him.

Agree Gattis needs to go back to catching or be traded this offseason, much preferably the former since DH-only non-elite bats who will be paid $5M+ don't have a ton of trade value. If Gattis is able to catch again, Luhnow will look like a genius. It's the only hole in the farm and Castro is a pending free agent.

Depending on the compensation system, I think they'll let Gomez and Rasmus walk. Between Marisnick, Tucker, Fisher, Aplin, and Kemmer, hopefully the outfield will be ok. I could also see Bregman moving out to LF if he's ready.

Yes, Trout does in fact play CF, and a really good one at that. I'll still take the young, emerging SS out of those 3. Don't get me wrong though, I'd gladly take any of those 3, there really isn't a wrong answer here per se.

I think it's awesome that we can even have this conversation by the way!

Someone said that McCullers was supposed to have his first rehab start yesterday? Did anyone post the results of that? I'm very curious.

Yes, especially when the media were saying we made the mistake of taking Correa over Bruxton.

So far Correa is much better than the Twins cfer.

At one point the Yankees and Red Sox guys got drunk and talked about trading Ted Williams for Joe Dimaggio. Joe gets the green monster to play pepper with, and Ted gets the short porch in RF at Yankee stadium. They sobered up and it never happened.

Quad Cities only had 4 hits --- Tucker got 3 of them.

Jason Martin has reached base in all 5 of his plate appearances tonight. He's 2-2, walked 3 times, and also has 2 stolen bases.

Brock Dykxhoorn allowed a run on 6 hits and struck out 6 in 5 innings for the JetHawks.

Good to see Bregman come flying out of the gate early.

If he tears up AA, it will be interesting if the Astros start giving him reps at 3B in Fresno. You wanna keep a guy at SS as long as possible, but given that position (and 2B) is blocked you have to start planning for how they can help the big league club. I don't think he has ever played 3B.

Also on that note, Colin Moran is out of the blocks strong as well. All of these blue chips prospects knocking on the door and not many PA available on what appears to be a loaded offense. I think this team making a blockbuster trade during the season feels like an inevitability.

Agreed. I just hope that it's for a player more in the mold of Sonny Gray as opposed to a player more in the mold of Tyson Ross. I also feel the acquisition price will be very high, to the point that it will really sting. Even then, I think the value proposition will be there for us to pull the trigger on it.

I simply feel that a playoff rotation of Keuchel, Gray, McCullers, and McHugh will be too tempting to pass up. Give me that rotation along with our offense, and I like our chances in a 7 game series against anybody.

If Gray is traded, he's the number 1 available pitcher and Ross is the number 2 available pitcher. I'd hope the Astros get both. That said, I expect Ross is best pitcher traded at deadline.

You are probably right. I'm just not sure about Ross, and he probably is the best SP traded at the deadline, but he's already 28, and hasn't surpassed 200 innings in a season yet.

But I do like your idea of getting both. That's a bold move, and we would probably have to trade most of our top 10 prospects to make it happen...but dat potential rotation doe!

I've not looked at what the costs for those two guys would likely be. Gray would be a ton. My guess is it is too high. Ross is going to be a lot. Padres may be unreasonable.

Every year Ross has been a full-time MLB starter, he's pitched at least 195 innings and he has pitched more innings the past 2 years than all but 27 pitchers. He's only got this season and next under club control. As such, being 28 doesn't matter too much. Ross isn't an ace, but he's in the next tier.

Granted, Ross is on DL now so it may be a mute point.

So I kind of don't want to ask this because I like how I pronounce this name in my head...but is this pronounced "Dicks-Horn"?
