Meh. Really was a no lose situation for the Astros. Fields is a mental midget and had no future in Houston. I personally expect him to be the closer for the Skeeters in a few years.
If he is part of a package that brings back someone controllable like Archer then sign me up. Otherwise, no thanks.

Ramon Laureano becoming really intriguing. Hitting 337 after a 3 hit night tonight. In 29 games at AA he is carrying a 1000+ OPS.
2 out of 3 ain't bad, when you consider the MLB draft being a crap shoot. Plus, it's too early on Daz Cameron, wait until next year. We should have a good idea how good Tucker & Cameron are in their 3rd year in the Minors, with only 1 full year completed. Worse case scenario, Astros could still probably flip Cameron in a package deal for a decent starting pitcher.
I don't really get that concern by scouts. I like the idea of a agile catcher. Now that they did away with most collisions at the plate, that should help. He is a pretty similar size to Biggio.
But Biggio moved to 2nd base. To prevent the wear and tear it would of had prevented him from playing all those years.
I don't think they're expecting his bat to be so good that he has to move off the position to keep his bat in the lineup. He's not a top prospect, just ride him at catcher until he stops hitting.
This is how the Houston Astros farm system looks right now. Ignore Bregman. He ain't going back to minors unless is a rehab assignment. (knocking wood) Seems like 1. Martes 2. Tucker 3. Whitley Are the top 3 prospects.
2B last longer than catchers. Biggio was likely moved to 2B because his bat was viewed as too valuable to let erode at catcher.
We don't know how long Biggio could have lasted. They wanted to save his knees, and they wanted him to be in the lineup every day. Not to mention his arm would have eventually made the move necessary any way.
Yeah, I think they really valued his speed and base-stealing ability. That would have eroded quickly had he stayed at catcher. I'll tell you what, he may still have played for 20 years, but no way he hits that many doubles or steals that many bases without a move away from catcher.
