Of course he got to be smarter on defense, but his mobility completely changed as he got older and he just didn't have the ability to dominate the defensive end the same way. He became a great anchor, but he could do very little outside the middle. Being more limited in what you can do is not better than getting smarter. See: any aging superstar. Shaq was dominate during the 2000-2002 stretch, but against who? I can dominate children on the court, but no one is going to praise me for that. Olajuwon dominated Shaq (look at the numbers, it wasn't even close in that finals), Ewing and the MVP David Robinson. He also had to get past big men like Karl Malone and Charles Barkley. So who are these great hall of famers (in their prime mind you) that Shaq dominated? Vlade Divac, Luc Longley, Arvydas Sabonis (age 35), Rik Smits, Sabonis again but at 36, Divac again, David Robinson (age 35), Dikembe (age 34), Dale Davis, David Robinson (age 36), Vlade again, and the world renowned Todd MaCulloch. Wow, he beat up on these guys when none of the good ones were even in their prime? How impressive. Olajuwon dominated an MVP, a monster and a hall of famer. Hell, they were all HOFs in their prime. Dream >>> Shaq
none are tied right now, doesnt mean that you shouldnt vote. i cant update the list right now, i dont like doing it on the phone. so got to wait for lcahmed, he's the only other breh who can do the tough math of adding votes!
Who cares about what you do outside? See Duncan the past few years. Until this year, he was damn dominant defensively despite having no mobility for years. Shaq got much smarter and became a very good anchor. He didn't dominate defensively in Orlando. This is like calling Harden or Iverson good defenders just because they got more steals. Yeah, total children on the court. You do understand defense is a team game? Shaq would be constantly triple teamed and would still dominate. People like Duncan had no shot against Shaq. Yeah, Hakeem had an insane playoff run that is probably the most impressive run of anyone but overall Shaq in his peak is just flat out impossible. Also, NBA Finals numbers? You want to bring that up? Here are their stats when they were guarded by each other: Here you go. It doesn't exactly look like Hakeem dominated Shaq. At all. That would be dumb as hell to say. Hell, the reverse looks way more apparent.

You asked for the stats so I gave you the stats NBA players think Rudy Gay is awesome so you can't just apply everything. Sure Shaq couldn't get into his head. Hakeem was awesome. He was dominant. But Shaq was just more dominant.
Updated voting... FTW 4 vs Donatas 3 Horry 6 vs kevC 3 Fallen 0 vs Jamers 9 (Jamers to next round) JMC 7 vs don grahamleone 0 (JMC to next round) Von Rafer LOL vs RedN Doesn't matter, Von ain't taking it. (RedN to next round) oelman 1 vs Jontro 5 VBG 3 vs thething 4 LCA 3 vs Tizzle 2 If we really wanted to push this, Horry and Jontro can advance as well, FTW vs Donatas, VBG vs thething, and LCA vs Tizzle still need to be voted on.
I'm sure don has a good team, but most of his players were before our time. It's like kids born in the 2000s seeing my roster and be like "wut..?" I think I already voted for all 8 matchups... am I allowed to vote again for the remaining 3 matchups, since I don't remember who I voted for the first time?
FTW vs Donatas This was a really close match up for me. It really came down to Adrian Dantley such a steal in the 6th round. Him coming off the bench and not having someone to really be able to stop him. Dwight and Ewing was a wash for me. Both Big and Physical should be able to handle each other. The Gasol pairing didnt work for Dantoni maybe it works in Dwights prime not sure. I like Billups playing good D on Stockton. I also like Roys matchup against Robertson. Gasol though to me has a big advantage on McDyess. MyDyess is one of the weaker PFs in the draft.
Horry Vs KevC Another close one for me. I like the spacing on kevC team but he selected Sabonis way to early for me. Kidd is probably the second best defending point and should dominate Tony Parker. Carmelos length on Johnson should be a problem as well. Rodman should give Bosh a run for his money on defense. Sabonis does outplay sikma though.
Fallen vs Jamers Weird pairing with Al jeff and Sampson imo. Scottie locks up Nique Fallens only real weapon. Sampson should outplay Smits but Jermaine will body Al Jeffs no defense ass lol. Dumars will play good D on Mullin and Kevin Johnson should lock up B Diddy. Jamers offense with Kevin Mullin Pippen and Jermaine is better overall than Fallens.
Oleman Vs Jontro Close one. I thought Yaos height would be an advantage but Eaton is the perfect center for this matchup. Zach Randolph will not have a chance in the world to keep up with Amare running the floor. Price should be dropping crazy alleys to Drexler and Stat. Reggie has the advantage on anderson but I just dont think Worthy can keep up with Drexlers athleticism. Sucks Jontro has the best bench center in the draft. He could have upgraded but Yao will play most of the minutes and Parish will ride the bench. Missed opportunity.
VBGvs. thething I hate thethings spacing. No reliable three point shooter to stretch the floor really hurts wades driving lanes. However I hate VBGs brand playing center. Tmac excels at playing at the 2 with his height advantage over most guards. He shoots over defenders. I would have prefered Moncrief coming off the bench and maybe grabbing Parish from Jontro. He would have such a stronger team and better fits with Kierlenko moving down to the 3. None the less the spacing is just not good enough for thething to get consistent shots.
LCA vs Tizzle Getting one of the better point guards in Tim hardaway in round 5 was a complete steal. Dan Majerle is not slowing one of the best small forwards in Paul pierce down. I think even San Antonio preferred Manu off the bench. I like Ray allen to outplay him. Webber and Wallace would be a good matchup. Big Ben loves physical matchups and he has one with Gilmore but Artis cant outbody the big boy.
Lulz, breh. I haven't watched Parish, hence him as a 6th. Turns out I don't know much about the 80s. I like Yao for the shooting tho.
Hmmm thanks for the vote. I also really wanted Parish from Jontro but he was mean. I kept Moncrief starting and Brand at C because he had Wade and no real post threat from his Center position.
