Whoever thinks Rubio is way better than Lin is just a hater. Rondo/Lin is close -- but I'd probably take Lin at this point in their careers. If Kidd had shot 4/16 with the same stat line in a loss, he probably would be taking some heat. I'll admit that 12/10 is a pretty solid stat line. I watched the entire game and was somewhat surprised to see he still managed to get a double double, considering how poorly he was playing through the first 3 and a half quarters. I'll give him credit for being their catalyst in their mini-run which tied the game at the end -- think he managed 3 quick assists in the last cpl of minutes which really salvaged his line. Looks like Lin was on his way to a pretty big game tonight -- unfortunate that garbage time started halfway through the third. 14 pts, 4 ast, 4 stls in 23 minutes is very nice.
Ever heard of YOF.LOF's who came here for yao then left and then came back for lin Only delusional crazy insane LOF's believe he is a star. Most sane people see him as a good to sometimes very good player.
This is why people roll their eyes when talking to Lin fans. He's yet to unleash his potential for three straight seasons, running on his fourth. Lin is what he is. A solid starter, a great backup, but not an all-star or star of any sort. In Houston it was McHale + Harden, in LA it was Scott + Kobe, in Charlotte I feel like he finally found his perfect role; but I'm sure people were complaining about Kemba wanting Lin to take the reigns... What is the excuse in Brooklyn if he doesn't become an all-star? He has his dream coach and there is nobody there that can take minutes away from him.
That was never a YOF, you can easily tell by the way they post. That's a LOF lying about any allegiance to the Rockets. LOFs lie like dead rats in the alley. YOFs posted under the Pryuen regime, who's now the main dude at YaoMingMania. They had a leader, like we have Clutch. However the YOF understand what we stood for. If they didn't like us they left. the LOF stay around for some sense of self righteousness . They cling on to the same themes of false injustice and hero worship they spit on a regular basis. It's just them projecting their insecurity on Lin and making him their hero. They rarely argue or talk to their own. You can search the site for the Yao era and read some threads. Let's not forget that Yao was all about being a Houston Rocket even calling himself a native Texan. Yao was about being real.
I'm sure he didn't want a garbage team, but the Nets weren't able to land the additional FAs they targeted to give the team more talent this summer. That said, I'm also sure he knows it won't be an easy process to make this team competitive, and he should be given props/kudos for being willing to try rather than be satisfied being a bench player as he enters his prime years. As for yesterday's game, clearly the Bulls are the more talented team...Butler, Wade, Rondo, etc, so no delusions that anything less than a perfect performance from the Nets would have made them competitive. The fact that it was the Nets' 3rd game in 4 days probably didn't help much either.
Not every player wants to be 7th or 8th man Barbosa on Golden State Warriors. NBA Players careers are short. Understandable if a player wants 30+mins a game rather than 15-20mpg in this stage of his career. Is it better to take paycuts to play on the Warriors like Zaza Pachulia and Anderson Varejao? Harrison Barnes left the Warriors to cash-in on four-year $94M contact. I'm sure they would have let him stay for $1M or $2M a year. He chose money. Nothing wrong with either. Who are we to judge lol
There's an in-between scenario. How about 2 or 3rd option (or main 6th man) on a goot team where he gets 20-30 mpg
Pelicans wanted him. I'm not sure how much the pay difference was. http://www.espn.com/blog/brooklyn-n...m-the-depths-how-jeremy-lin-got-back-on-point Lin was highly intrigued about the possibility of teaming up with Pelicans star Anthony Davis and playing for Alvin Gentry in New Orleans' D'Antoni-inspired offense, sources said. But the Pelicans weren't willing to pay what the Nets were, paving the way for Lin's return to New York.
Pelicans were willing to pay $10m per. Lin took $12m per from the Nets. Chris HaynesVerified account@ChrisBHaynes New Orleans could have secured Jeremy Lin's services, but venturing beyond $10M annually became the sticking point. Brooklyn stepped up.
Pelicans are mediocre at best. Borderline lottery/playoff team. Probably a 30-something win team. Seems like a marginal upgrade over the lowly 20-something win Nets I'm not surprised a young basketball player taking more money + New York City
Probably wanted more minutes too. He'd have to share PG duties in New Orleans with Jrue Holiday as he did with Kemba in Charlotte. And yet, the Pelicans are still a below-average team in the NBA.
There are no LOFs in New Orleans and nothing to push his brand to the masses. New Orleans and Houston have too much many passionate fans with soul. But good news for you since you live in New York, you can hide your Rockets jersey in the closet and wear your Lin gear!
