Perhaps...but the tweet makes it sound like JLin is somehow making a huge amount of money. But relative to other NBA players, he is not making that much.

His parents got lucky...moving into Palo Alto before the big tech boom in the 80s.

On the vertical he said he was so frustrated at one point in his career he cleared out his locker room, told his agent and nearly left. I wonder if it was during the Portland series

Lin's parents are both highly educated people, his dad has a masters in engineering.

    that's not 'lucky'.

but I understand that a Lin fan who is joining Clutchfans is here to only sing the song of Lin.

In the beginning when we got Yao, one poster Pryuen sang the Yao song everyday. Even making a thread about Yao when he got a haircut.

the only difference between him and you and that he was more entertaining.

I thought this board despised Pryuen. Didn't he get permabanned? He never did anything too egregious AFAIK.

He was extreme but respected clutch and what Clutchfans represented .

He and the YOFs didn't join the board to project their insecurities on us. They didn't go insult our state, city, and blindly label us racists.
Also, Yao's performance backed up the praise.

Yao didn't get demoted to a bench player. there's a reason for that. it's called being a legit all star.

But my point was that it was lucky/fortunate that his parents were able to move into Palo Alto at a time when it was still affordable and stay there as the real estate prices boomed. It's likely that someone today in the same circumstance in terms of career and such would not be able to afford to live in Palo Alto today...that they'd have needed to get some of that tech-stock growth before they could afford to move there.

I would make a thread about JLin's hair, but my account doesn't have the ability to start new threads yet. Am working on it...once i get there, I'll be sure to do that...

They were lucky to be what? Old educated people who live in Palo Alto?
That's what the entire population is made up of. It's not like it's people who work at Popeyes live there now or then

This is not like Serge Ibaka who was homeless and his mother died. And they lived in the CONGO.

So Lin was lucky to have parents who were educated and wealthy and live in Palo Alto California.
He was lucky his mom liked his dad essentially.

tinman keeps bringing up Lin's parents money and living in Palo Alto.

Did you wish you lived in Palo Alto when you were growing up or something? Didn't get the toys you wanted? What's with your resentment for Lin's middle to upper-middle class upbringing? Plenty of wealthier "NBA Kids" whose parents were multi-millionaires.

The lof think everything about Lin is something magical .

If your parents were from Palo Alto, you'd be well off too.

But since it's Jeremy Lin. It's something so special like the McRibb.

McNuggets look up to the McRibb

Ps. I was in Palo Alto last week

It's just a fact. Lin didn't grow up poor and that his parents didn't obtain wealth through luck .

His parents got degrees. This is not something magical or Cinderella.

    Facts

I hope when Zhou Qi gets to the Rockets and plays against the Nets that Harden would throw him an alley oop pass and he windmills it so hard over Jeremy Lin that it knocked 400 points off his SAT scores.

Then I hope Zhou stands over Lin like Ali over Liston or M. Bison over Chun Li and screams "WU TANG FOREVER you Amy Grant listening sucker!"
Then I hope Lin fans get hysterical like they just saw a Popeye's commercial and start trying to fly out of the coup.

    That's what should happen.

Let me try trolling for a bit. I don't care about some foreign Chinese import because I'm an American, like Jeremy Lin. Lol.

Not sure how much playing time Qi is really going to get, but just think the Chinese portion of the LOFs might come back and start rooting for Qi and agitating for him to get more playing time.
