Yao was so missed used by the rockets in the beginning because we had hero ball guards like Stevie Francis and Motley. They took all the shot and not allowing the best player on the rockets to be the offense. This improved later but still never got the ball as much as Shaq. This is how I felt about Lin too. Harden was not the player he is this season and was about hero ball when Lin was on the team.
But Lin is not a hero, he didn't do anything heroic for the Rockets Yao had weaknesses , he was slow and people just fronted him so that he couldn't get the ball. Also you can't compare Lin to any of those players, because Mobley, Harden, Yao, and Steve Francis were significantly better than Lin. All of these players were starters, Lin is not a starter (til now), he always got demoted, injured or started half or less of a season
Yao fans have been hypocrites they say the Rockets didn't play him enough at the beginning and then they said the Rockets played him too much later which led to his injuries and wear and tear. don't forget he had his obligation to the Chinese team so he played basketball the entire year for many years limiting his minutes was probably a better idea. His body is not the same as Shaq.
