Interesting. Kevin Johnson, like other Texans first round selections have been given no prior indication that the Texans have been interested in them when being selected.
I'm thinking this too, and since he named someone's who just got picked, he's given himself an out in case nothing happens.
randy, randy, randy, randy, RANDY, RANDY, RANDY, RANDY! Get it done Rick. Would be a nice fit a OLB, and he probably won't fall to the 2nd considering Shane just got drafted.
And now he's saying that they are still trying to trade up.....if the price is right. That's a built in out if nothing happens because you can just say "well the price wasn't right"
To be fair, Braddock just said that the 49ers were exploring trading Kap, not that they were committed to doing so. And Braddock seems to be very well connected with the Texans org; he's had a ton of scoops that weren't mentioned anywhere else in the media regarding the team.
Not that I'm doubting you, but what were these scoops with the Texans? I'm admittedly not high on him because he's shared plenty of bad takes on his guest spots with 790, going back to the Gwinn days. Former scout I think, but not a super huge stretch to imagine that the 49ers under a new regime would explore what they could get from Kap.
Braddock has said multiple times on his show he thought Dupree was a top 5 pick. I guessing that's where his "rumor" began.
Can't remember much off the top of my head without scrolling through his twitter feed... but he did break the news that Brandon Brooks would miss his start with his illness, and he may have called the final Clowney injury and micro fracture surgery (don't quote me on that one, though). Also had several right takes during free agency with the Texans. He seems to be well-connected.
Someone on the staff would have been out there by now to discuss the pick if they were content with just waiting until 52. They have to still be trying to move back in.
