Yep 4 games is 3 or 4 more than FSN used to show. I think the only reason they showed any was to practice with an actually broadcast before the season started.
FSN used to show 4-6 games every year. A lot of times they would piggy-back off the other team's production truck, so it was easier to show an FSN spring training game against the Cardinals since they were also getting broadcast on FSN back in STL. There were also that many games back in the 80's and early 90's... the bottom line is that things should "advance" in this day and age, not regress.
Exactly. The general public will get the opportunity to see Appel and Correa where they likely won't (at least in the beginning) once the regular season begins. There's a marketable reason to televise more games.
$58 million... I actually meant to type far less than any other comparable team that just signed a new deal (Mariners, Rangers). Its actually the 9th richest year to year deal in baseball... but less than the original 80 million they signed on with CSN, less than what they could have had with FSN prior to the CSN era, and when you factor in that they didn't have to pick up any of the previous missed payments... still a bargain. More games and less mid-day poker!
Lucky for the Astros the open carry law is about to be passed, otherwise Carlos Correa might have gotten arrested for those guns.

Carlos Correa signing autographs this morning. Looks like he was able to get some upper body work in for all those months where he was non weight bearing to his leg. An added bonus due to the "injury".
Holy crap. I'd actually be worried that he's getting too big. Can't wait to see if his ISO power numbers go up this year. He was already a double/triple machine, though.
I'm not concerned. It was part of the scouting report that he will likely get bigger and why they say he'll ultimately end up at 3rd. I, too, would love to see if it means some of the doubles and triples turn into hr's. If so, it's scary to think what might be in the very near future.
I don't remember Correa being anywhere near that big in the upper body last year. Clearly he's on steroids. No hall of fame for him.
Isn't Bags supposed to be at ST this year? "Well, Your Honor. We have hearsay and conjecture. Those are kinds of evidence."
Not really... the production crew and announcers are all being heldover from the old network. They may be test runs for the season in general, but that is not the reason for the decreased game. Also CSN-Houston was a brand new network.... and they started off the bat with 10 games.
