Hitting is expensive, Took the Cards their 5th best prospect coming into the season to get Brandon Moss whose essentially hitting like Valbuena and Carter without as much team control.

Would love Carrasco, but he is no better than Ross Same age, Ross having a little better season this year than Carrasco, both were better last year than this Either would help a lot, if Toronto is about to get Price I hope they don't get that second Wild Card
Unless Price agreed to resign, McCullers or VV is too expensive unless it's a straight up swap with maybe very low level prospects attached to Price.
Meant attached to either Lance or VV. Honestly, VV or Lance are still too expensive for a short term rental but the tweet shows how far Appel has fallen in value since the season began.
Yea McCullers should be off limits, he is already showing Ace ability VV and a low level for Price seems very fair. VV could be really good, but has more work to do and a pretty long injury history Just a guess, but I would think Detroit would rank the three being mentioned 1. McCullers 2. Norris 3. VV
Depends on the team, i'm sure there are teams who would prefer Appel to VV, and some that wouldn't McCullers should be on a different level, and not available at all
We'd have Keuchel pitching at home. I would still take those people odds of winning over sacrificing a good to great starting pitcher under team control for a long time just to prevent wild card opposition from having an ace of their own to use.
Yea I guess it depends on your vision of continuing to value prospects the most, or trying to win it all. We have no idea if VV will be a good to great starting pitcher, we "think" he will, but no guarantee. And we have so many more prospects coming Prospects are cool. Parades are cooler
VV is the definition of a Tigers prototype pitching prospect. Good frame and a power arm... would have to imagine they would be all over a deal with him as the centerpiece.
Problem is, if Detroit is choosing between VV or Norris, they will very likely choose Norris I would offer VV plus a couple of low level guys we would have to expose to Rule V anyway, and try to get it done.

Young pitchers who prove they can pitch AND miss bats at the ML level are very hard to give up period, much less for a rental. It doesn't matter who that rental is. We want to win now, yes, but VV and McCullers will help us win for MANY years. We were unfortunate with the Carlos Hernandez part of the Roy O/Hernandez tandem that everyone was excited for back then. Let's not squander our next opportunity before it even starts.
