Phillies panicking. Cole ain't gonna help that team into the playoffs. Too many holes and their bullpen is ****.

I guess Hamels views Dallas as the better place to live and the Rangers as a better organization. Really stings, but it's not the first time Houston has gotten the cold shoulder.

Be sure to give him the "Beltran" treatment! :p
    Kidding.

I don't think he was necessarily waiting on Hamels but Jeff can move on, possibly get some other thing(s) done now.

    Hamels to Texas.
    Price to ???(LAD?)
    Gomez to NY.

If Texas can get their pitching staff healthy, they're going to be tough next year.

Honestly depending on the prospect cost, Ross and Kimbrel > Hamels

They could be but so could a number of other teams... A lot of holes in that aging line up and not sure Darvish will be the same...

No - more likely it's around Houston not guaranteeing to pick up his team option on the last year.

The Rangers have been a high-priced flop the last two years... and now they're trading more young prospects for high-priced players?

I don't care if most of these guys still have good prime years ahead of them... they have basically no safety-net when injuries happen to "older" players (as they commonly happen), and they're eventually going to be in the same position that the Phillies are trying to get out of now.

Why so much love for Upton. We already have a batting lineup full of guys exactly like him?

i'm excited if it means ross and hopefully kimbrel are happening

and he's infinitely better than cut carter, so i'll take that uptick + the versatility (assuming it means Carter is moved out somehow)

Ross and Upton would round out this team nicely.

Lmao...Rangers writers are calling tonight "historic" for them in getting Hamels. Really?? Is he putting them in the lead as a World Series contender?

Upton doesn't play 1st, what would he have to do with Carter.

Unlike our other hitters he has the ability to have the impact Beltran had on the lineup in 2004. Get him in a more hitter friendly park in a pennant race with a big contract in play and you'll get the best out of him.
