Freeman is young (24 I believe), ATL just locked him into an 8 year $135 million dollar contract and he hasn't even peaked yet. No way they move him unless we gave up all of our talent, ain't gonna happen.
Dodgers could be out on Hamels as they just got Mat Latos and Michael Morse from the Marlins. God, I hope Giancarlo Stanton leaves Miami...

#Marlins to send Latos and Morse to Dodgers in another salary dump. Yeah, makes no sense to trade him...they have a 25 year old stud on their hands. That's exactly the piece you want to build your franchise.
I never said it would happen but the current regime didn't give him that deal. The Braves are either dealing more talent away or needing to bring more talent in the door with the move to their new stadium coming up. It's always worth a call just to see the asking price. Why would the Dodgers trade Puig (even if he is an asshat, still has special talent) but there's rumors around him? More players in which rumors haven't been swirling around are going to get moved.
I recall a month ago reading a Houston Chron article where Hamels said he's open to coming to the astros. He said he placed the astros on his "do not trade" list before the season but obviously no one could've predicted the astros would be in 1st place at the time pushing for the playoffs. Just fyi
Bringing up a player like Freeman is just looking at players worth it if you are trading some or all of Appel, VV, Phillips, and Reed. Would you rather trade a package like that for Hamels or for a player like Freeman? If the Astros are surrendering their top potential players, might as well shoot for the moon and I'm not sure Hamels is that type of player.
If Hamels won't waive his NTC for the chance to play with Correa for the next few years, he should be required to take a urinalysis. Borderline insane.

Just like he can say after, if asked (why not Houston), "I was never approached about a trade to Houston" blah blah blah. He don't want to be here, he don't want to be here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can understand not waiving his NTC if the Phillies have a substantial offer from the Dodgers, Yankees....hell, even the Cubs. But if he doesn't waive his NTC so he can be dealt to the RANGERS, then he goes on my **** list. You'd have to be a Grade-A moron to look at the 2 organizations, and think, "Hmmm, I think I'll enjoy my time in that sweltering bandbox in Arlington more than I would inside Minute Maid Park, playing alongside Dallas Keuchel, Scott Kazmir, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve."
Texas isn't on the no trade list that he made before the season started. He cannot block a trade there.
Time will tell. Astros clearly are his best destination and have the most lucrative offer. That said if the Rangers want to give up the rest of whatever prospects they have left for a chance at finishing .500 for the next few years, I won't shed a tear
Rangers are sooooo blah. There bullpen is horrid and they are starting to fall off ever since their starting pitching has come back down to earth. They will dwindle back to nothing where they belong. Why couldn't we have Prince Fielder in our lineup ugh we could be so stacked. Now that we are buyers, it will be interesting to see how FA goes. I would like to lock Correa and Springer up asap long term. Both of them on the market is a scary thought. Keep the core together and ride it out like the cardinals.
Who knows why he doesn't want to be here (assuming he really doesn't) 1) When he originally made the list we were terrible, so that one is easy 2) Seeing that only two AL teams are on his list he can be traded too, it's likely he really would rather stay in the NL 3) Maybe he looks at our team payroll and says to himself "they are good now but they will never pay to get it to the next level *** I don't personally believe that is true, I think Crane will spend plenty, just saying that someone on the outside could look at it and think that 4) Maybe he didn't like how the whole situation was handled last year with us pulling the offers to Aiken etc.... Maybe he looked at all of that and said to himself "jeez that is not how you treat people, i'll never play for those guys" **** again, i'm not saying that I personally believe this so don't rip me on that, BUT it's entirely possible that someone on the outside saw that, didn't like it, and hasn't changed their mind 5) Maybe he has family in the business world that has crossed paths with Crane, and had a bad experience 6) Maybe he has a whack job ex girlfriend who lives here and he wants no part of being here if at all possible What i'm saying is, sometimes we look at these guys as if they are machines. These guys are all just humans like all of us, they all have feelings about certain things. Some humans made decisions on things and easily change their minds. Some make decisions on things and those views are set in stone and not likely to change Bottom line, if he don't want to be here he don't want to be here and we need to set our sights on Ross....Or Gomez please
