Welp, that's going to be awkward. I wonder how much this has to do with them believing in Miles moving forward versus how much it has to do with Jimbo Fisher (and whoever else they may have made contact with, such as Chip Kelly) showing less interest than they had hoped.

The only thing in sports that pays better than being a college football coach at a P5 school is being a recently fired college football coach at a P5 school.
LSU was getting LOTS of bad press about possibly replacing Miles. It really made the school look bad. As I have said, Miles hasn't done all that bad in the toughest conference in football, and he has a great recruiting class coming in.
Richt is gone from Georgia. Just saw it crawl across the bottom line on ESPN. That should be an interesting coaching search to follow.
Keeping Miles is the best move if Fisher said no thanks but this is just delaying the inevitable now. Every loss moving forward will just fuel the fire. UGA should take a long look at Herman. Also hearing Mack Brown to UVA is a strong possibility.
Kyle Flood of Rutgers has been let go (along with AD Julie Hermann) mere hours after stories came out saying that he was expected to keep his job. On the field, I think he actually did a pretty decent job. He took them to three bowl games in four seasons, after all. But all of the off-field stuff, most of which came to a head right around the start of the season, led to his departure. I think that's why the AD is ultimately on her way out as well. This is a complete house cleaning.
Certainly seems that way. With so many big-time openings, this does look like his opportunity to take the right job and maximize his earnings.
UGA is arguably a Top 10 job and Richt has been pulling in stellar recruiting classes the past couple years. As far as openings, UGA is a big one.
FWIW, it has been reported that he has interest. The story can be read here. Dan Woken mentioned on Twitter that Herman was the guy who recruited Atlanta for the Ohio State staff, so it does make some sense from that perspective.

Already being reported that Herman has agreed to become next UGA HC. Not sure if something would happen that fast but seems that the interest is mutual.
There's only a handful of better jobs in the country: great facilities, great town, great recruiting area. It would be hard to blame him for jumping at that.
