A few teams started today, the rest on Monday.

KNICKS

Phil Jackson: "We feel really good about our summer. What we are happy about is we have a group of guys that want to work together, seem to want to play together."

"We anticipate it's going to take longer for any new team to play together," but hopes that process can happen during preseason. We look forward to a quicker start than we had last year."

Jackson says biggest step for the Knicks to improve is finishing games; making critical decisions in the fourth quarter.

Jackson on what fair expectations are: "I want to stay away from expectations. It's a long season."

Fisher on expectations: "I think last year, we did try to predict what we would do, and it's impossible to do that."

Phil Jackson says he wants to stay away from predicting a win total for team. Says they are focused on process, being competitive.

Fisher says Carmelo is healthy; medically has been cleared to fully go during training camp, but says Knicks will monitor him during camp.

Phil says he may have stepped back too far to let Fish develop. Says Fish asked him to be more present/influential. Plans to be more involved.

Phil Jackson says he talked to Pau Gasol, who told him not to worry about Porzingis' slight frame. "He'll grow into his body," Gasol said.

Fisher on rookie Kristaps Porzingis: "He wants to work, he wants to get better, he wants to be here in New York."

Steve Mills says Kristaps Porzingis was watching film of Usain Bolt to improve his running technique.

Phil tries to remember how many players were still on the team since when he took over last March; realizes the only one left is Carmelo.

Phil again says Robin Lopez is a better fit than Greg Monroe. Cites his defense.

Phil says biggest challenge for Fisher in year 2 is to develop roster, chemistry, keep bench players engaged, manage egos, deal w/ media negativity

Phil Jackson on Kobe Bryant: "I don't think it's his last year. ...It sounds like it might be his last year as a Laker."

Phil: "With Kobe he has had 2 seasons aborted due to injuries. I think he is going to be really better than people think..."

Phil on Pope being in NYC... jokes his request is for Pope to "bless the Garden."

Phil Jackson: "There's a part of me that wishes Michael Jordan said goodbye after that last shot in Utah."

Fisher addresses "questions" re: Melo's unhappiness w/ direction of the team. "I think he actually enjoys & likes working with these guys."

CLIPPERS

Doc said this is clearly the most talent he's had since he's been with the Clippers. "I don't think it's close," he said.

"I like the feel and the vibe around our organization" - Doc Rivers

Doc Rivers on spreading minutes around: "I'm not worried about spreading the minutes around as much as I'm worried about winning."

Doc Rivers on Lance Stephenson: "I think he adds a dimension to our offense. I think he gives us a great defender and multi-positional plyr.

Doc Rivers on who will start at small forward: "I haven't even...I've given it a lot of thought but I could care less who it ends up being."

Doc Rivers said at least three guys could start at small forward: "I could care less about that stuff."

Doc Rivers on identity: "We have to be a better defensive team."

Rivers on Cuban: "Mark's an owner, I'm a coach. Unless we're going to play a 1-on-1 or get in a cage match, I don't think it really matters.

Doc said there will be a maintenance plan for Paul Pierce in regards to minutes/back to backs etc. Doesn't know what it is yet

Doc Rivers said he likes the number of ballhandlers on second unit: "That's exactly what we were trying to create."

Doc Rivers said the Clippers needed multi-positional players to slide guys over for injured teammates or to adjust lineups.

Doc Rivers said the Clippers can play big when teams play small because Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan are so versatile.

Doc Rivers said DeAndre Jordan needs to be involved more on offense for the Clippers to improve.

"We’re excited, not only about his voice, but Paul can hoop." - Chris Paul on Paul Pierce.

Does DeAndre Jordan want to be more involved on offense? "My expectations are for me to be an all-around, better player."

Chris Paul: "I'm excited about the depth of our team. We have, I think, a great locker room as far as veteran leadership..."

DeAndre Jordan on first game at Dallas: "It will be like any other road game."

Blake said he looked as his game a lot from last summer and trying to correct mistakes -- focus was more on overall skills.

"We have so many guys who can make plays....our main goal is getting everyone on the same page because we have so many new guys." - Blake

DJ said there was "forced tension" btwn players -- blamed outside stuff, said he, CP and Blake are fine. "There was no clearing of the air"

"I think a lot of things are blown way out of proportion" -- Blake on the Clippers' perceived strife

Paul Pierce said if Clippers win it all this year he likely walks away from basketball

Paul Pierce - people may think I'm an a-hole - actually a nice guy

"Our bench certainly got better" --- JJ Redick

JJ Redick is now an ordained minister --- charges $150 to perform services, plus tips.

Paul Pierce said he thought the Clippers were going to win the title last year.

Austin RIvers: "I think we have an opportunity to be the deepest team in the NBA with the best bench in the NBA."

Josh Smith said Doc Rivers has the gift of gab - also a track record to back it up

Bench Mob is the unofficial nickname of the Clippers' second unit, says Josh Smith.

Austin Rivers: "Whenever you get a chance to get a team like this together, you have to take advantage."

Carmelo says he's not setting expectations for season. Also says new guys have bought in already.

Carmelo: "It's hard for me to think about last year... It's a blur."

Vogel: “Our whole team is going through a shift of offensive identity. … We do plan to play (Paul) some at the four."

Vogel says when it comes to Paul George numerical position of playing “the 4” really isn’t a big deal. More so position-less basketball

Vogel, on his change of the offense: "I know that playing with space is very difficult to guard.”

Vogel on rookies Myles Turner, Joe Young: “I intend to use them right away."

Vogel really excited about Chase Budinger. “He’s really going to help our running game.” Says he looks “fantastic” & has shot well from 3.

Vogel on PG at PF: "This is worth exploring. This is something to be really excited about and something we believe he’s going to like."

Vogel said that Paul George has expressed his concerns about playing 4 w/ him and Larry Bird but feels it’s something “worth trying."

Paul George on Roy Hibbert’s absence at the rim effects his defense: "Roy was special. He will be missed but the show must go."

No D West, no Roy but Paul George says he has “big shoulders” and can handle the added leadership role.

Paul George: “I think we have a real shot of being top 3 in the East.”

The reason why Paul George has such a high ceiling for #Pacers - he’s encouraged by the leap made by the ’14-15 Hawks

Raptors nailed their re-brand and finally a team understands that simple and clean look is the best. Love the numbers font! Too bad Adidas had to mess with the jerseys, the different density and size of the holes across a jersey is just hideous.
