Clowney was playing well last night. The issue with him has never been about talent..but rather his tolerance for pain and his lack of availability on the field. Availability is a huge component of assessing a player's contributions for the team. And yes...his speed is unbelievable...even after Microfracture..
Need to see last night's Clowney every single week. So far he's only really shown up in blowouts for some reason.

Clowney had never been all-world in an NFL game that mattered. His talent was questioned at least minimally.. but Sunday he was All-World. Great for the franchise and hope it continues. Crazy Khalil did better on the same damn day. A real quarterback will make things better on both sides of the ball.
And when Mack was Clowney's age, he was still in college. 2 years from now when Clowney is Mack's age, we'll see how he's doing.
His production has been largely underwhelming, but last night was obviously a positive step. Hope it continues.
well I think that applies to anyone lol...but he was even more exceptional fighting through the double team and that lineman for the Patriots is no slouch he ran obliterated on his way to sacking Brady. Mack has almost 2 years under his belt as pro...Clowney still on year 1 technically
Actually after watching that sack again that Clowney got to Brady not being touched...it was because he blew by the offensive lineman with his speed before he could react to block Clowney
Underwhelming? How can you judge him after the last year? He had the most severe knee injury one could have a year ago. One they say that takes a month and a half to recover from.
20 observations from Texans vs. Patriots Posted 43 minutes ago John Harris Texans Analyst 2. Jadeveon Clowney thrived under the spotlight of Sunday Night Football. He finished with two sacks and a myriad of dynamic plays. If there’s any positive to take out, it’s that the second year outside linebacker is taking that next step. His burst and explosiveness were evident throughout the night. The sack he had in the third quarter when he burst through left tackle Sebastian Vollmer was as impressive as anything we’ve seen from him this year. 3. My buddy Lance Zierlein texted me after the game and said “that tackle and end stunt with JJ (Watt) and Clowney is near unstoppable.” Clowney’s second sack came from that T/E game and it was brilliantly done. That’s exactly what Bill O’Brien envisioned and noted as such during an episode of Hard Knocks, if you recall. “90 and 99” is the way he put it and there were moments tonight when I had that “90 and 99” feeling.
It's not a final judgment, just observing his play thus far. If anything, his early judgment should be he's injury prone. Again.. early judgment, not final. He looked great last night.. glad it happened and hope it continues.
Two years from now clowney will be a free agent. Texans aren't going to sign him to $100 million contract EVEN IF he lives up to the hype. What's the point of drafting the guy #1 overall if they don't plan on resigning him? Typical Texans.... Smh. Could've had bortles or Carr...
So, when they say a guy has 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss, are the TFL the sacks or is it two additional TFLs (in essence 4 TFLs)?
Why wouldnt you resign him? NFL salary cap will be rising quite a bit. By that time, Watt's cap hit will be about 15 million per year, which is not that bad. Of course, this is assuming that Clowney plays to that value and has been relatively healthy ober the next few years.
