Maybe my memory is off but I don't remember too much from him in the run game. And Mario was usually good for one sack a game but that was about it.
I agreed with you because I thought Watt's leg tripped him up, but I saw on another angle that his leg didn't seem to touch him at all. Either Clowney flipped him with superhuman strength one-armed or the guy just got scared and went down because he saw or heard someone about to roll into his leg. lol. Hell of a play. Clowney looks a lot bigger than last year (?)
Yea he does look bigger at closer to 280 I heard but still has that insane speed, I saw the YouTube breakdown on him and I came away very impressed. So much potential and I really liked what I saw and he will only fine tune with more experience
I mean, I wouldn't call that much disruption. He had some good plays, but the Bengals pretty much did whatever they wanted to. He's still a good player, but if Clowney stays healthy, he'll be the better player. I actually think Mack is a little overhyped…but I could be wrong.
I like Mack big time but Clowney has a much bigger upside in my opinion and just a freak of nature...all he has to do is to stay healthy and improve
-He’s not exploded onto the scene as many thought he would, but in year two, Jadeveon Clowney is at the very least making his impact felt. Undoubtedly playing in front of more than a few fans from his time at South Carolina, Clowney (+3.5) put forth his highest graded game as a pro, recording three quarterback hurries while locking down the edge against the run. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/09/21/hou-car-grades-jadeveon-clowney-making-impact-felt/
Teams arent running the ball off his edge. he was close to several sacks yesterday. Hes going to be reallu good. He is getting doubled like Watt.
I would guess he got a smaller positive grade They double teamed him a lot which opened up things for others, but the grade doesn't account for that I don't think Same thing happened last year at one point
Grades account for a guy getting double teamed in the sense that they wont mark him down if he doesnt make a good play...whereas he would get marked down if he was getting taken one on one. Being double teamed is the norm for Watt though...he just didnt play well yesterday.
I read somewhere they put two linemen on him then used two others (rb or te )on Clowney. That grading makes sense
Clowney has been setting the edge great... One problem I have seen is he is having trouble with the read option, he wants to blow up the RB so bad that he over pursues and leaves the edge open for the QB. This lead to some big runs from Can and even Alex Smirh
