Velasquez lost the no-hitter (and the shutout) when Jorge Bonifacio took him deep. Through 7 innings, he's walked 2 and struck out 9. Corpus leads Northwest Arkansas 5-1 heading into the 7th.

There's a pretty real chance he would be the second best pitcher on the ML team. Id rather trade McCullers but Id prefer to trade neither and unload some bats.

    That's his final line: 7 IP, H (solo homer), ER, 2 BB, 9 K on 98 pitches

A.J. Reed just whacked his 14th homer of the year. It's a 3-run shot that puts Lancaster up 6-0 in the 2nd.

Here is Baseball America's review of last year's international free agent signing period. The Astros signed more players than any team except for the Yankees.

I did a write-up last week on both rosters, but I didn't really delve into details. Ronny Rafael, Franklin Perez, and Miguelangel Sierra, the three players who received the biggest bonuses last year, are currently on the Orange team.

Cristopher Luciano had a pretty solid debut last season; he's on the Blue team this year. Wilson Amador is a tools kid at this point. He had a decent debut at the plate for the Orange team last year and stole 29 bases. Andy Piñeda, who's got outstanding speed, already has 5 steals this season after swiping 23 (16 Blue, 7 Orange) for both teams last year.

In early action today, Jake Nottingham is 2-3. Both of his hits are doubles, and one of them drove in a run.

Jorge Perez, making his first career start, allowed 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5 over 5 shutout innings. He was a 30th-round pick in 2013.

Quad Cities leads West Michigan 5-1 heading into the 8th.

^^ Make that 3 doubles. 2 run-producing doubles, to be exact.

Done after 5. Two hits, no walks, three strikeouts... very nice to see.

Wow they pull him after 62 pitches. AA manager needs to just let him pitch and not worry about his wins.

The modified tandem system. Appel was only supposed to go 5.

That is the weird part of what they are doing now. Sometimes they are tandem, other thimes they go normal. I don't really try to understand it.

I imagine Luhnow is calling the shots with everything Appel does.
