The quote said it was a smaller deal.I don't think we were that close to our cap before the trade...

The triumvirate of Fisher, Reed, and Davis is reunited in Lancaster.... for now.

Reed may not be there for long.

No big surprise there, he'll probably kill there as well because pretty much everybody hits there. Have to figure Phillips won't be there much longer. I imagine Reed is probably stuck behind Gregor and Singleton and won't move until something happens.

Luhnow is gonna be armed to the teeth in the trade market, plus 2 more top 100 prospects likely coming in June.

    From MILB.com...

To take D.J. Fisher's spot in Quad Cities, Ramon Laureano was summoned from Extended Spring Training. He's in the River Bandits lineup tonight, batting 8th and playing RF. Laureano was the Astros' 16th-round selection last June.

Here's a Carlos Correa feature from Fresno's ABC affiliate.

I may have said this before, I dunno, but a guy whose opinion I respect and has watched all of Appel's starts says Appel looks like a guy that is most concerned with having perfect mechanics and throwing strikes and really doesn't seem to care what happens after the lets loose of the ball.

I.E. He doesn't pitch, he throws.

Not sure that really concerns me... perfect mechanics are very important. Sometimes more important than just trying to get everybody out no matter what it does to your arm.

If he's working on refining his entire repertoire to ensure a long career with minimal risk of arm trouble, I'll take it... just as long as that is what it is, and he does eventually gain enough confidence in the technique to let it fly and produce some success.

Brett Phillips began tonight's JetHawks game in Stockton by hitting his 8th home run of the season.

I dunno, that's just the opinion of a couple of guys that watch him. What I'm saying is he doesn't work counts, doesn't pitch to situations, he just throws. Mental aspects are lacking, maybe he needs a personal catcher that will just tell him what to throw and when?

Or a pitching coach/manager that calls the game for him... like I said, if he's working on his stuff/mechanics/pitches during games, and doesn't care as much about getting guys out or over-throwing to win a minor league game, I'm not sure how much I'm concerned about that.

I probably wouldn't question his mental fortitude all that much.... this is a guy who took a huge gamble and turned down millions only to have a "better" senior year and get more money.

You don't have to, but it's been a pretty constant knock on him since his Junior year at Stanford.

    In what way?

I'd have questioned it more after he turned down the Pirates first round pick offer... if he didn't come back and do exactly what he needed to do to put himself in an even better position.
