That was Devenski's first start at the AAA level.

Baseball America has been continuing their league ranks.

California League: Reed (3), Bregman (5), and Phillips (8)
Midwest League: Martes (5), and Nottingham (12)

Phillips/Nottingham aren't in our system anymore, but they still go the Astros tags since they played in Lancaster/Quad Cities.

Respect for Jio Mier for sticking around the game. I've followed his career because of all the excitement that came with it. He's no longer a prospect, but I think he still has the talent to play in the ML's. His defense was always good, his bat was just too inconsistent.

I'd like for the Astros to keep him on board, but there are just too many players ahead of him in terms of talent. Villar has started turning things around. Marwin Gonzales has earned his keep. Correa is the franchise face. Lowrie got derailed by injuries last year, but should bounce back.

Outside of AAA filler, there's no room for him. I hope he finds somewhere he'll get a shot because there's a long line in front of him before he'd ever put on a "Houston" jersey.

Baseball America: Fisher Credits College For Ease Of Pro Ball Transition

Good review article on Derek Fisher. He's an exciting power/speed guy who'd be a great fit in LF next to Marisnick/Springer if he comes close to hitting his ceiling.

The big caution flag I see with him is his hit tool. He gets good future grades on the hit tool (55 on from FG) but he only hit .262 in Lancaster.

    He's a borderline top-100 guy.

Didn't use Fiers? 9 starts, around 58 innings and an ERA under 2.70, in addition to a no hitter. Yeah, he sucked and was never seen once the Astros acquired him.

Hader won't even be a starter long term. He only has two real pitches and the second one is inconsistent. I'm not too bent out of shape about losing him.
