If $6MM is the number, we need Daz to sign for $4MM for us to have a real shot at one of the late signs. We'll only have overage money to offer ($865,000).

Looks like everyone's rolling with the $6 million figure.

6 million should leave enough for a 4 million dollar offer to Dez.

1.5 slot + 1.5 bregman saving + 850 k on the overage + 150 k of other slot savings should give astros close to 4 million to offer Dez. May even have enough to offer one of the HS players enough to by pass college.

Eric Longenhagen thinks Eshelman could sign for below slot. That would be pretty cool.

He covers the draft for ESPN.

So even if Eshelman signs for slot that means they have about $4.3 they can offer Daz Cameron. Assuming Ferrell, etc sign for slot as well.
— Eric Longenhagen (@longenhagen) June 24, 2015

Why would anyone want Aiken now?!

Some people just have to put a negative slant on everything.

To be fair, it really is not Bregman + Daz > Aiken and Nix. it is more like Bregman + Daz vs. Aiken + Nix and the 2015 slot of the 37 pick.

But given the circumstances, it was a pretty good return. Though a healthy Aikens would have been ideal for this team.

The top of the astros prospects just got refreshed after Correa, Tucker, McCullers, and Velazques got the call upto the Astros.

I am just glad Aiken did not take the last minute 5 million dollar deal Astros offered. i prefer the outcome of Bregman + Daz.

    Exactly.

Also, I don't care how rich your parents are, giving up ~2.5M is never a good move.

I do not think Aiken thought he was going to break down. He and his agent kept saying how irrelevant the Astros injury concerns were about a guy how had never had a significant injury.

I think Aiken trully thought he would be the number 1 guy by any team not named the Astros. In pre season training, reports were that Aiken had been pitching better than ever, then in his first real game his UCL snaps....

Taken into consideration, 2.5 million is not a bad consilation prize. As an Astro fan, definitely no hard feelings about the situation. Just glad we had the 37 pick and the slot money to make a run at someone like Cameron....

    Saving $1.5MM on Bregman.

No. 2 overall pick Alex Bregman signs w/@Astros. Bonus is $5.9 million. Astros have saved $2,589,200 in pool money with Cameron, Eshelman, and Ferrell left to sign. If Daz were to agree to $4MM, then they would go overslot by $2,331,400. Assuming that Eshelman and Ferrell both sign for slot, that means that we would have $257,800 saved from the pool plus the approximate $864,000 in overage money. So we would have a total of $1,121,800 to throw at Sandoval or Sands.

It would be sweet to get one of the High School talents, especially if Astros see good potential.
