The Astros have given the top pick less money than the player selected below them all 3 seasons Ludnow has been around if I’m not mistaken. I feel confident the number is below $5.5. It would have to be at most $5.5 if there’s any realistic chance of signing Cameron.

I would love to see the Bregman play from today side by side with Correa from a few games ago

Absent some sort of Aiken-level physical problem, there is zero chance that Cameron doesn't sign.

Alex Bregman and Zac Person are now available to negotiate with.

They're nearly identical save for the rocket arm inclusion in Correas.

On the other hand, TCU will have to beat Vanderbilt twice in order to advance to the Championship Series.

Bregman may be better than Correa at SS. Damn, the kid is smooth.

I was postulating on Bregman's SB. Not sure what physical have to do with it. Although if Bregman has an Aiken-like physical, I agree at that time no way we can sign Cameron.

i thought i included enough precautionary words in that short excerpt.

in theory, under the premise that he's a top 5 pick (as another poster said), trading a late 1st and late 2nd would be a good trade, and not analogous to "losing picks" drayton-style. that's all i'm saying.

    Safe to say he's signing.

My guess is that he'll get money that mirrors something between the #3 and #4 pick, but closer to #4 value.

    5.3-5.5 million.

I just want these numbers to be determined so I can move forward with my life.

Noooo. (Bill Polian voice) You never give up a first rd pick in MLB. Those picks are valuable in the long run. Only way I give up those picks is if my team is signing a perrenial All-Star player who is in his early prime and you have the farm system to withstand that, but I love Luhnow's approach better. Luken Baker is going to College for sure. If there was a 50-50 shot he wouldn't had slip past the 11th rd where a $100,000 slot would of help. There is a reason why a player like him lasted until the 30's. Plus Baker still could be a hitter or a pitcher and that's a bigger gamble not knowing if he is going to pan out. Cole Sands looks good and he is only 17 years old. Patrick Sandoval is a lefty starter with upside and with more velocity to come. Astros most likely sign one of these two. When a HS stud drops in the draft and gets drafted in the 11th rd there is a 50-50 chance of signing him. In Cole Sands place, if you get drafted around the 16th rd there is a 33.3 percent he signs...But Luken Baker gets drafted in the mid 30's the club drafting knows there is a 5% chance to sign him...Is more of a very slim to none chance.

Talked to my step brother's friend for a while about Bregman yesterday. His dad used the scouting director for the Reds and Braves and has a lot of close ties in the organization. Said the Astros are toying with the thought of Bregman at C where he played in high school.... this will be a very interesting storyline to follow as he comes into the system.

Maybe they'll then move him to 2B to mirror the Biggio career arc?!
