This goes beyond jlin since people like tinsane and his crew crew choose to insult and disrespect things that they don't have a single understanding about.
So the stat du jour for Lin fans is TS%? How about his TS% this year is .532, the lowest it's been in five years.
I'm trying to get one so I can auction it off, probably get a grand or so for it I'm sure. Of course I hope that ball is secured in his hand, I'd hate for him to turn the ball over and lose it before I can sell the damn thing.
Not Stat-du-Jour...but if you're going to say he played badly, you can't just look at shooting percentage. I remember Harden had a game where his shooting percentage was awful but he got to the foul line something like 20+ times and ended up with something like 30 points. Not a bad offensive performance even with a poor shooting percentage. And yes...Lin's scoring has been down this season compared to his career numbers. No one has denied that. But even with his drop in offense, he's been able to earn his minutes with his defense and his teamwork. His minutes have dropped because the team has 2 SGs (Lee and Lamb) that the coaches like better than Lin at SG (or at least they want to get Lee fully integrated with the team heading into the playoffs)....but the coaches have enough trust in Lin that they traded away Brian Roberts, solidifying Lin as the primary ball handler when Kemba is out of the game.
Lol can we all just finally admit Lin is just simply not that good. He's simply not a starting caliber player. If I'm being generous, he's a serviceable back up.
How many good starting point guards are in the NBA this season? I would say maybe about 2 or 3 elite PG, 6 that are allstar level, another 6 that is good solid PG and the remaining are pretty bad on the remaining teams. I will say Lin can definitely still start for a few teams but is one of the better backup PG in the NBA now. Your point is not totally off because I feel many of the starting PG now are definitely not starting caliber players.
A team with Lin as your starting PG is definitely lottery bound. But he's more than serviceable as a back up PG. He has real value as a 6th man.
His teams' records with him as a starter is better than his teams' records with him as a backup. And when he is a backup, other than his 2nd year with the Rockets, his second unit has been in the top 5 second unit in the NBA. This would provide some evidence that he could be more than "a serviceable backup" if in the right system.
Well, you will NEVER get the LOF to tell you that Lin is average. That would imply that they are average and that would hurt their self esteem. They are tied to him by either race or religion and live vicariously through him. They would lie for him , they would die for him.
Honestly, just a quick skim through this thread and you'll see the lots of 'LOFs' say that he's average. What a blatant lie.
You pick one past out of thousands to prove a point. And even that post doesn't prove your point. You said LOFs never admit Lin is average - blatant lie Also, I am on the raptors board right now, thanks.
