So true...Asian-Americans have so few role models from our own community, so we have to support the ones who do manage to find success. We are evil.

Dude on the left was born in San Francisco.

Would never let Mo Williams steal the ball from him

Would kill Lin in a fight.

See? You have to reach back to a guy who died in 1973 to find an Asian-American role model of significance.

    IMPROVING THE LIVES OF CHILDREN
    IN THE US AND CHINA
The Yao Ming Foundation was established in June of 2008

Yao was improving the lives of all children way before Jeremy Lin

but keep that's ok, he's YOUR JACKIE ROBINSON and MARTIN LUTHER KING and NELSON MANDELA of Asian Americans!

Yao Ming > Jeremy Lin in everything

Why do you think MLK and Mandela are relevant here? Did they break racial barriers in athletics, too?

Also, there were plenty of people who were trying to improve the lives of children before Lin. But if they weren't Asian-American, how could they be Asian-American role models?

Whether Mandela was a hero is very debatable though, just saying.

I guess those kids in Houston had to learn that Yao wasn't born in America so he's a bad person and that they should hate immigrants and foreigners even though he works and lives in the community.

They should be inspired instead by Jeremy Lin who is from California and listens to Christian rock bands instead.

You have to go back 43 years to find an Asian-American role model of significance, and you find fault in Asian-Americans who are hungry to find a new one?

I believe our resident Lin fan here says that Yao Ming can't inspire Asian Americans because he was born in China.

    Zboy,

Did Yao Ming inspire Asian Americans?

here's a picture of Yao meeting an Asian American fan who sucks at basketball but was inspired by Yao

Why would anybody consider Yao to be a bad person? At what point did you think I made that assertion?

I don't sound like anything. these are words not sound bites.

this is in your head, like how Jeremy Lin is better at inspiring Asian people than Yao.
