Just observe like a national geographic cameraman. Let everything take its course. Sit back and enjoy the show! It's really getting good!
If they really let Lin play a lot of PnR and give him minutes, Lin may be happy there. Time to see what he really got.
Can we stop with this Lin pick and roll nonsense? Lin fans always mention the play without any stats to back it up. This Grantland article (below) was relatively positive about Lin in pick and rolls but still described him as only slightly above average (at about the 50-60th percentile) and turnover prone when blitzed (26% turnover rate). This was before he came to the Rockets and the author projected he would improve. He hasn't. He is still turnover prone. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/jeremy-lin-on-the-rockets-part-i-running-the-pick-and-roll/
Good Afternoon Gentlemen, I'm the guy that runs HornetsPlanet I'm genuinely afraid to ask this question, but what on earth am I in for from a forum perspective with the Hornets signing Lin? In the first few hours I've "discovered" from Lin supporters that he was "held back" by Kobe/Harden/Melo, that he is clearly better than Kemba Walker AND that Jeremy Lin will be a TRANSFORMATIONAL player for our Hornets. What other madness am in for??? Also, What the heck is an LOF?
^ Same sort of reaction from Lakers fans when they got Lin. Hell, even Rockets fans were optimistic when we landed him. Give it half a season. I'm sure the tone of that forum will be a little different.
At some point you'll have to come to grips with the fact that he's an average-at-best NBA player and a below average starting PG.
No, there were a group of us who felt that Les and Morey were making a big mistake letting Dragic walk for essentially the same money as Lin, barring the player option. Even before Harden arrived, there were more than a few that felt the signing was pre-mature for an unproven player. Even if we felt like tanking at the time. Lakers fans didn't have the same backlash because Lin came with a pick and carried no expectations other than the lottery. Lin will be an afterthought on the Hornets given his low salary and expectations. There he can quietly average 9/4 on 16 mpg without the crazy media hype.
Best of luck to Lin. I hope his fans also get a bit more realism. It isn't likely but it doesn't hurt to hope.
Haha! It was all nice and rosy in LA before the season began. Kobe was supposed to mentor Lin. Byron Scott was supposed to be the anti-McHale. Lin was supposed to be the starter and lead the Lakers into playoffs alongside Kobe. Lakers fans were buzzing. Lin fans were dreaming big. One month into the season and *poof*. One year later he is at the door step of the door mat franchise of the NBA. Yeah so...... Settle Down Tiger.
Where is your stats backing up your claim he hasn't improved his pnr? Dude isn't a star, but he is a solid player. And did I say he would be a star if he plays more pnr? I only said he would be happy. Chill
The entire Lin fan argument is that he was dominant in New York running the pick and roll. I pointed out that he was average at it, or slightly above. Did I say that you said he would be a star? My point generally: If you look at any Lin fan discussion it's always "why won't McHale/Byron Scott/____ star player allow Lin to run the PnR!?" or "Harden and Kobe are ball hogs and won't let Lin run his play" or "Lin would excel with Howard/Ed Davis/Jordan/Jefferson in the PnR!" or "Clifford will finally allow Lin to run the PnR!" It's the last bastion of hope for Lin fans and it's repeated without any real analysis.
Sure... that's fine. Then, why did you pick on my comment to reply? My comment was really to think Lin will be happy playing more pnr and more minutes. Then you called pnr idea non sense. You can have your opinion on that sure. Please don't get my comment involved. We aren't talking about the same thing.
Before the season: Byron Scott: "I'm a Jeremy Lin fan" - Lin fans are like yeah finally a coach who will let Lin play and will not marginalize Lin. Lin is going to put up big numbers, lead the Lakers to the playoffs and be an All star. A few games later: Byron Scott: "Jeremy Lin Was ‘OK’ With Move To Bench" - Lin fans are like what a racist POS completely marginalizing Lin because Lin is exposing Kobe blah blah
He's a scrub playing backup pg playing for 2 mil year on one of the worst teams in the NBA. Not to mention that contract was signed during one of the craziest FA spending sprees ever seen. Everyone was getting overpaid. I hope Charlotte gets the poor ball boys who have to rebound for Airemy helmets
