The Chron is live-tweeting the UIL hearing regarding Katy playing an ineligible player right now. The hearing just kicked off.

Like they were really gonna send Katy home. When I read that they didn't know about the rule it made me think of this: http://youtu.be/4B93BoC9ylg
Saw this posted today on Facebook from a friend of an old classmate - apparently Yankees just don't understand Texas football or Texas traditions I went to some football playoff games in Waco. After the embarrassing patriotic song featuring a lot of shooting and killing video, they played the National Anthem. Then some Texas anthem. We were apparently supposed to put our hands over our hearts and sing that, too. Woops. I'm not from here. I don't think I ever felt so out of place in my whole life. I'm glad these folks have a home in which they feel comfortable. But it reminded me I am a stranger in this land. After 18 years.
Welcome to Championship weekend. Today, the small schools take stage. 2A, Division I: Canadian vs. Refugio, about to get underway 2A, Division II: Bremond vs. Albany, 1 PM 3A, Division I: Cameron Yoe vs. Brock, 5 PM 3A, Division II: Waskom vs. Franklin, 8 PM All 4 games on this first day feature defending champions: Canadian, Bremond, Cameron Yoe, and Waskom. The 2A Division II game is a rematch: Bremond topped Albany 28-21 last year. Cameron Yoe is looking for a four-peat, while Brock is playing for a state championship in their 3rd year of varsity football.
Dallas people complaining about the state games being in Houston? Shocker. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Welcome to Houston: It's the teams, not stadiums, that make high school football history. <a href="https://t.co/0QU23NAuPc">https://t.co/0QU23NAuPc</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/txhsfb?src=hash">#txhsfb</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/UILState?src=hash">#UILState</a></p>— Angel Verdejo (@ahverdejo) <a href="https://twitter.com/ahverdejo/status/677462288559804416">December 17, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
that both amazes me and doesn't surprise me at the same time. Brock has been a basketball powerhouse for years. Their girls teams of the early 2000's were unstoppable and tough. They've built a strong community around their sports teams
Like every other sporting event in Houston, minus the Texans attendance is poor. Guess they won't be coming back. It's kind of surprising how much of a football power house, my neighborhood high school has become. Cedar Park has gone to the championship game 3 out of the last 4 seasons.
Amped up for Katy. Thats my running team. Cant stop our reggie bush. I'm not even going to bring defense into the equation
I don't follow Highschool football all that much but I just realized that 3 teams around Lake Travis/Austin are in the state championship games. Cedar Park Lake Travis West Lake
It's pretty mind-blowing that more people in this state don't realize that Austin has some really outstanding teams.
The crazy thing is that Lake Travis is only 15 minutes from the other 2 schools. There were also 2 other schools that were ranked in the same school district as Cedar Park.
