First diagnoses is a sprained hamstring. He will get a scan tomorrow. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

Dempsey took a shin to the nose as well. May very well be broken/fractured but he continued to play.

Johansson was not ready to go at all. Hopefully Jozy can make a speedy recovery, but the US attack is not scaring anyone right now. Maybe Julian Green needs a go.

Agreed that he wasn't ready, if Jozy was in there I think the US score their second goal MUCH sooner.

    We lost Altidore and Biesler.
Bradley isn't mentally there, this was a costly win.

they said Besler was taken out as a precaution; they said his hamstring was just tight. Bradley is the most consistent USA player besides Howard he will bounce back. I just think they weren't ready for the weather even though they tried everything to be ready.

Ghana is like J.R Smith. You never know what you're going to get. Could be a world class performance or could be wild and out of control. USA is like Chandler Parsons. Good at most things but a pretty low ceiling.

Wish houston had an outdoor viewing party like other cities do. You got a big ass park in downtown to use.

Congrats to the USA, Ghana played better, but the USA came in James Harden type CLUTCH. Regardless of how certain players played, they did exactly what they needed to do to have a chance to advance in this group, get a win. If this game would've ended in a tie, you could kiss your world cup aspirations goodbye.

They won't beat Germany but they have an alright chance to tie with Portugal since Pepe & Almeida are out. Portugal will probably beat Ghana so it'll come down to goal difference between the USA & Portugal.

Edit: I have no idea why Ghana didn't start KPB. Would've been a very different game.

Our midfield was TURRIBLE - no control over the ball, horrid passing and no linking up.

I kept thinking - you know who is the best passer in US history? Yep, still in Los Angeles.

    :)

Fun Fact 85% of teams that win game 1 get through to the knockout stage.

    Bradley's the best passer.

He struggled way too much today though.

That's good for the USA...hopefully they are world class against Germany.

I think having Donovan would really help us on set pieces like corner kicks but given that they scored on one, I think they'll be alright. That said, I really think he should have made the roster.

Wrong train of thought. We want to at least tie Portugal and have Germany beat Ghana. Ghana would be eliminated.

Sample scenario, assuming USA and Portugal tie, and Germany beats Ghana.

    Germany 6 points
United States 4 points, +1 goal differential
Portugal 1 point, -4 goal differential
    Ghana 0 points (Eliminated)
