Brazil is becoming different team, you don't have the same talent anymore, no more Ronaldo no more Ronaldinho no more Roberto Carlos nor more Robinho no more Kaka no more Rivaldo, they are becoming more scrappy team, they are more physical they go after the ball so you don't see the same passing skills or the same tactics which relied more on Talent. With the current roster I only see Neymar similar to those players I listed.
Yeah I wasn't. I have to say Brasil has not impressed me, but I fear with the homecourt they will be difficult to beat. The way the bracket is turning out, We are on the right side. (Not with Italy,France,BRasil,GermanY)> Congratulations Swoly. You deserved to advance. It will be an interesting game.
Even with the homecourt I don't see them being difficult to beat...vs the right South American team and in this case Chile. The Chilean fans will probably create as much of a home advantage as the Brazilians and I wouldn't be surprised if the Chileans are much louder. (Although I guess it might depend on the ticket allocations for the match or however FIFA do it). Either way, I see no reason Brazil won't be playing their final 2014 match vs Chile and going home after. I think Mexico might be a scarier match for the Dutch than playing Brazil would have been(even though I know the Dutch history vs Brazil has not been good).
With home court I mean Refs. But I hope Chile will beat Brasil. It would be brilliant. I think we have a good chance against Mexico. I think they will have to much trouble with Van Persie and Robben.
Well I did this months ago!! At that time Argentina was killing everybody in S.America. But I still think they can pull it off, it seems they won't have anyone truly title worthy until Semis and with an inspired Messi anything is possible.
The key will be some thru balls down the middle... Mexico will be playing with 5 at the back but the 3 CBs are very slow. If you can get Robben or even RVP a couple of balls down the middle, they will be gone.
Agreed, and the speed of the strikers is one of the strong points of us (Also with Lens and Depay from the bench) LOL, that was how they became European Champions. I know you were joking. But that is not possible, if they only score 1 goal they have 4 points with a goal difference of -2 and Ivory coast or japan will beat that no matter what the score is in that game.
arno_ed, I expect Mexico to control the ball a lot more versus y'all. I expect a bit less of forward thinking, and starting Chicharito instead of Peralta. I thought it would be the way to do it against Croatia, but the starters remained. And then when Hernandez came in, all heck broke loose because Herrera saw that the right side of the Croatian D was wide open. BOOM, like three in a row. I won't talk about the AWFUL calls not coming our way (two handballs not called, Hernandez' push in the box, etc.), because we outplayed Croatia with good football. It got chippy at times, but it was ours to take and we showed it in the first half. I am confident that we will win... and if we don't we will go down swinging. May that best team win, arno_ed. Your team is great this Cup. I don't know about that. Croatia had a plan, too. I only read this THIS MORNING after there were so many people talking about it yesterday during the game that this was said: Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/croatia-trash-talking-mexico-at-world-cup-2014-6#ixzz35Z5XvP2vBOOM?
I also expect Mexico to have the ball more than we. I expect a similar game like the one we played against Chile. hopefully our defense will be able to reduce the scoring chances Mexico has, and Robben and Van Persie will punish any mexican mistake. I am also confident we will win . Also good luck to you Swoly. It is funny, most of the Dutch media are actually very negative about the style we are playing, calling it boring and not like the Dutch should play (we heard similar comments in 2010), but since we are winning they cannot complain to much. However if Mexico beats us I expect a lot of negativity.
To be honest, (And I feel like I'm one of the few with this opinion), Croatia was playing better than Mexico for the first 70 minutes. But after the first Mexican goal, they had a terrible 10 minutes where they just completely broke down. And in a World Cup match, you just can't afford to have such a bad 10 minutes.
Classy DaDakota. Unlike some World Cup results, that was expected. Stay classy. Don't feel bad to be the only one with that opinion. You have every right to be wrong. And... were you NOT being honest before this post?
Indeed. If Uruguay pull it off, he could be a big part of the cause of Italy not making the round of 16 for the 2nd consecutive Cup.
The irony is that Italy took Balotelli out at half time thinking he might get a red card in the game.
