You can't just say a guy is guaranteed to be cut next season and not give the guy a chance to perform. So if he goes out there, throws down 1,500 yds 4.7avg, your solution to our problems is to cut him next year? We're not paying an elite QB, we have money to spread around. but hey let's cut our All-pro RB just cause we don't like his attitude towards pancakes. That's, as Ben Tate would say, wishy-washy.
RBs are the most replaceable position on the field...it has nothing to do with the fact that we dont have an elite QB. We have a lot of issues that need to be fixed, such as DB, OL, general depth, etc... Plus, we have a guy named Watt that deserves some $$$. Paying 9 million for a RB is asinine it today's game.
How is it asinine lol rezdawg. Come on bro you don't think these elite running backs deserve to get paid.
Lache Seastrunk, the RB from Baylor that Pancakes was freaking out about the Texans passing on for Blue, got cut.
Arian Foster hasn't been an elite RB since 2010 when he ran for 1616 yards averaging 4.9 YPC. In 2012 when he had 1424 yards he only averaged 4.1 YPC. Now compare that to the other highly paid RB's in the NFL. His play no longer warrants the contract he'll be paid in 2015, and I believe BOB is wanting to do more of a RB by committee like New England does.
How would you know what Arian's current value is, he hasn't played healthy in a long time and he didn't play at all in preseason? I wouldn't make any assumptions about his future till I see him this year. For fantasy purposes though, I would worry that the bigger Blue will vulture his goal line carries this year.
Doesn't his health affect his value? You're right. He hasn't been healthy in a long time. And he hasn't played at all in the preseason. Do we have any reason to believe he'll be back to his old self this year or next? With the rare exception, good RBs decline quickly and disappear. Arian's decline has been somewhat more gradual, but I don't think we've been given any reason the last few seasons to believe that his best years aren't already behind him. Maybe he can come back, but based on his health and how the careers of most RBs progress, the odds are against it.
Heh, Stephen Hill was cut by the Jets, there was such heated debate a few years ago over how some had him pegged to be the next great WR.
Kelvin Sheppard just got cut in Indy. Would be good ILB depth. I remember when he came out of lsu and I wanted the Texans to get him in the third round. He's better that Mohammed and Dent and pretty much all our ILBs not named Cush
He can still be an effective run blocker but he's pathetic in pass protection. I expect to hear him in 610 in the near future
It would be interesting to know what player has the all-time highest total of Texans penalties. I bet it's Winston. Bob won't want.
