All the talk about the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes. Could this FINALLY be the year a thoroughbred can win all three races?
Kentucky Derby odds (may change anytime by tomorrow's race) 1. Vicar's in Trouble (22-1) 2. Harry's Holiday (41-1) 3. Uncle Sigh (21-1) 4. Danza (10-1) 5. California Chrome (5-2) 6. Samraat (16-1) 7. We Miss Artie (25-1) 8. General a Rod (27-1) 9. Vinceremos (42-1) 10. Wildcat Red (14-1) 11. Hoppertunity (scratched) 12. Dance With Fate (16-1) 13. Chitu (26-1) 14. Medal Count (16-1) 15. Tapiture (29-1) 16. Intense Holiday (10-1) 17. Commanding Curve (23-1) 18. Candy Boy (16-1) 19. Ride On Curlin (13-1) 20. Wicked Strong (9-1) 21. Pablo Del Monte (scratched)
California Chrome is distroying the field in his prelim races. Watch him on youtube The St Anita's and Wood Memorial are the two biggest races prior to the Derby, run on the same day. Both 9 furlongs. The Cali Chrome ran St Anita's with two other derby horses. Woods had several too. California chrome not only won by 6 lengths, but he posted a time that was 2 seconds faster than the Woods winner. But the biggest thing, his 9 furlong time at st Anita's was equal split to Secretariats Preakness record at 9 1/2, which is a mere 6 seconds longer race We've also seen him tested by his trainer in another race to see fast he could get out if the gate at to the rail in the lead. It was ridiculously fast. That is a good sign that he won't have trouble with Derby traffic
Also want to say that Wicked Strong is getting screwed by his post position. Dude just outran samraat from way behind in the Woods and gets the 20th position Also I'd like to correct the odds above. I'm pretty sure Samraat is 5-1. Not 16-1. At least according to the Louisville Herald Citizen paper on Friday
And if California Chrome stays at 5-2 odds, I think that's a great bet. Kentucky people like to downplay the California horses. If he was a Kentucky horse, and ran the woods in 1:47 like Sectretariat, Cali would be 2-5 odds right now I'm focusing on the exacta

Wicked Strong and Commanding Curve are the two horses in the way of the triple crown. California Chrome has not got in trouble/traffic in his last 6 races. Someone will have to run him down from behind and hope they don't get into traffic while attempting to do so

I agree. Tonalist did not participate in either Kentucky Derby or Preakness. There should be a rule change in horse racing, a horse has to race in either the Kentucky Derby or Preakness or both to participate in Belmont Stakes.
