Couldn't even take advantage of poor showings by most of his competition.

At least he can't say he wasn't given a "chance"... had more leeway/opportunities than he ever deserved here, and likely wouldn't have gotten that with any other MLB team.

I wonder who Luhnow's next ex-Cardinal draft pick reclamation project will be?

Well, at least Anthony Gose isn't setting the world on fire for Toronto. I thought we really screwed up trading him for Wallace. Turns out neither one of them are very good.

As so it goes with most "touted" prospects... the one thing that usually destroys rebuild plans like the Pirates/Royals had for years, and the Astros have now, is prospects that ultimately did not live up to their minor league showing.

Yes... and this will be VERY painful for Astros fans over the next 3-4 years. The Astros are doing this the right way, but there will be more failures than successes.... most top prospects don't reach the heights that fans hope for.

He wasn't a Luhnow reclamation project.

He wasn't acquired by Luhnow... but he got more of a chance here likely because of Luhnow originally drafting him when he was in STL.

And, him being invited to ST this year (after being DFA'd off the 40 man roster) was a Luhnow "reclamation" project... which he finally realized was never going to work out.

I doubt Wallace got more of a chance because he was drafted by St. Louis because they also got rid of him. The Astros just didn't have anyone better. Okay, I am now officially depressed.

I have no problem with him getting multiple chances... hell, the Astros even moved him back to 3B to get him more playing time... but I do wish they would have moved on sooner (and likely would have had Singleton not been so horrible last year).

Looks like Krauss now has a shot.

Singleton still doesn't have a hit!?! I really expected more out of him. Is Krauss going to be our first baseman, or possibly Amador (If we weren't the laughing stock already)? We ought to start out with Carter at first, Fowler in CF with Grossman (How has his spring been?) in LF and Hoes in RF.

I saw Nick Tropeano (aka Nitro) in an inning of work on CSN, against the Met's I think. He looked alright, kept the ball down, decent movement on his slurve. I thought he might stick around a little longer.

DDJr just doesn't excite me at all. I saw an at bat and I don't get the hype. I've heard he doesn't work that hard and I just didn't see a lot of raw talent.

How is JD Martinez (J-Mart?) doing? I heard he made yet another adjustment to his swing to get quicker to the zone. I've always been a big fan of his ever since I saw him on Washington when he first got called up. The guy has power in that bat and when he was tearing it up in early 2012, I thought he'd become an everyday player.

Springer bulked up too much imo. It reminds me of when Tiger bulked up. His swing slowed down, he lost driving distance and gained injury problems. I know it's a different swing, but it just scares me.

He's likely just "filling out" more than intentionally trying to get huge.

Remember, he's turning 25 this year... don't get him confused with skinny Correa or the younger prospects.

I don't necessarily have a strong frame of reference for his "before" - but I was very up close and personal, and while he's certainly fit, Springer isn't terribly bulky. Struck me as more of a swimmer's build (which I'm also frequently up close and personal with - does that sound creepy? This is all job-related.).

BTW, very engaging kid; very lively personality. Astro fans are going to love him when he gets here. Has a bit of a smarter Pence-vibe to him.

First base is about the only position they haven't locked down. That, and right field - but RF is between two players. Opening days line-up is Castro, 1B, Altuve, Dominguez, Villar Grossman, Fowler, Hoes/Springer, Feldman. Carter will DH, of course.

Is Krauss the kid they got from Oakland?... He really liked a 1B and I'm thinking it was Krauss...

Krauss was part of a deal with Arizona for Chris Johnson two years ago.

That's the one - they really like him.
