I upgraded from an S2 to an S5 this year. The S5 is really not much of an upgrade from the S4 (which my wife has). The waterproofing is nice, but that little bottom cover that covers the charging port on my S5 has already broken off. However, the battery life is finally improved. Being able to adjust the screen brightness down saves a lot of juice. Right now I am at 83% life and I've had the phone off the charger since 7 AM. Power saving mode is a very good feature.
I got a red m8 a few weeks ago on Amazon. It's now 80 bucks on there with contract/renewal. It's a nice phone.
It's a slam dunk of a phone, ain't it? I can't imagine having a standard-sized phone now. The battery life and screen size take it to another level.
Yep, the gs3 was great but had to do it. Pay straight cash homie and do straight talk and your good to go.
I'm on the s2 right now and looking for an upgrade. The s4 is going for about 428 retail price for TMobile..s5 is at least 600+. Would you recommend going for the s4 or save up and go all out for the s5?
really hoping the note 4 comes out with a slighter better battery, has 64bit chip, all metal case, and maybe a curved display seeing how it looks. Samsung really needs to hit the note 4 out of the ballpack
Did you search for Twrp flashable roms? You guys should put a custom rom on your phone. Specifically, the Vision X rom. I get get around 6-7 hours of screen time. Fast and Smooth. Best rom out there. Hands down
UPGRADING TODAY!! HELP!! Okay... I'm on Sprint (simply for the un-throttled, limitless data) and my upgrade date is today. I'm leaving after work (5) and heading to the Sprint store w/ my wife to get a new phone and I'm stuck between 3 models. We're an android family, so I have not even considered the iPhone. I'm not trying to put this ALL on Clutchfans. I've read reviews almost all day. But you MF'ers are the best, smartest, techiest group I know. So here's what I've got: 1) Samsung S5: Duh. It's the big mac of droids. I like everything about it except I hate my S2 (which is the phone I currently have). I also hate the plasticy body. Feels cheap. I love taking pics, and this one gets the best camera reviews. 2) HTC One M8: Damn. This phone is so cool looking, but the processor and battery are SLIGHTLY "not as good" as the S5 or the LG G3. I'm hearing mixed reviews about the 4 ultrapixel camera. I know you can focus after the fact, which is cool, but am reading about some less-than-sharp pics. I hate that you can't remove the battery, but have never needed to replace a battery in my previous two phones (HTC Evo and S2). I want this phone the most but don't want to let "cool" override function. 3) LG G3: This one is admittedly last in the clubhouse, though it looks amazing. I think it might be on the big side for me and the battery life has not performed well due to the HUGE screen. I know the least about this phone but the specs are eye popping. Can anyone provide some direction for me?
I hear good things about the M8. Since you're on a good plan with Sprint, they'll probably try to sell you on the Framily plan. While it might save you a few bucks a month, you'd have to pay the non-subsidized price for the phone. When you add the $25 extra for the phone, it's a total ripoff. We've regretted switching to the plan. Thankfully it's contract-free, so we're probably switching to T-Mobile soon.
I think they all use the same processor. I avoided the lg because i read about heating issues and the screen taking up battery life. It was between m8 and s5 for me. Can't lose with both. The s5 is waterproof and sports a great camera. Battery life is a wash for all three in reviews. I use the m8 as a tether for work and while that would've killed my droid razr, it uses up 70% charge at the end of workday. Not great. Not bad either. Dunno real world use with the s5 is. Camera on the m8...I wish there were more megapixels. It takes night pics better but the lack of detail sucks if I want to zoom in on something. It's decent for sharing on media sites, but I keep loads of random pics that I wouldn't care about space. I love the look of my m8. I had an s3 before and the feeling is much different. Speakers are nice if you like sharing. It's definitely a phone to show off, but if you typically use a case, that might not really matter. I wouldn't use this seriously, but there's a drop test YouTube on m8 s5 and 5s. The m8 is sturdiest by far... So my impression of this phone is the quality feel with flagship parts. Camera is main weakness to consider.
Out of the above choices? S5. Great battery life. Fast, no lag. Put a slim case on it and you're good to go. Plenty of custom roms available as well. My brother has this device. I rooted it and put a custom rom on it. He is very very happy with it.
i think i felt more baller when i first used the nexus 4 than when i started using the 5. the 4 is just beautiful. nexus 5 took a step back in design.
Nexus 4 was sorta ugly to me and the glass back was just a bad idea in general. Nexus 5 cleaned up the lines and made it look closer to the Nexus 7 2013 which was a good-looking device in my opinion.
Being with out a phone for most of the week, I bought an S5 for $99 on Amazon for Sprint. It was delivered today, can't wait to get home from work to mess around on it.
agree with the glass back. not practical, but it just made it feel more premium. i think the big difference is the earpiece. the nexus 4 slit on top was just a better design than the dot on the nexus 5.
I don't know. I love the soft touch of the black and the minimalist design with the engraved "NEXUS" on the back. Simple, yet elegant and 5 inches is the perfect screen size for a portable device IMO at least with my hands. I pray that the next nexus keeps its 5" form factor. The one thing I did miss with the nexus 4 was the curved glass edges. It made swiping towards the edge of the screen so smooth.
