Really? No reaction at all to the almost-38-year-old who led all scorers with 27?

Dirk is overrated. He is nothing without Tyson Chandler's defense. His saving grace is his shooting. He is a weak defender and average at everything else.

Man what a bad game for the Mavs considering how close they were. Only lost by 5 points and both Dirk and Ellis scored 11 points on 14 shots. Mavs fans have to be killing themselves over this loss, and this sits well with me.

This is the ultimate butthurt/kneejerk/overreaction comment. I hate Dallas, but Dirk is great, he just had an bad game. It happens.

Dirk is obviously aging a bit, and he may not consistently be the MVP caliber player he once was, but your criticism is strange. "His shooting is his saving grace." LOL. No kidding. Of course the thing that makes him great is his "saving grace".

It's like saying Jason Kidd's court vision is his saving grace. Or Shaq's size is his saving grace.

If the mavs couldnt win with the spurs shooting only 3-17 from downtown ( only manu conected) they just cant beat the spurs. Duncan is ageless.

Uh, how did Tyson Chandler's defense do with Carmelo and J.R. Smith's offense?

This comment shows how little you must know about the Mavs contracts. Marion, and Carter come off the books in the off season. Ellis has been great for them and is a good addition. Dirk had an off game 1 but was great all season and will come off the books and take a 10 mill contract. They will have plenty of money to add a center and a top tier free agent. They could actually do what Houston did this year and jump up 5 spots in the West if they sign the 2 right players. Think before you speak.

The Dallas Mavericks struggled in the Game One of their first round match up against in-state rivals, the San Antonio Spurs. The big question coming away from that loss is whether starting point guard Jose Calderon would be replaced by Devin Harris, who played twice as many minutes as Calderon and scored 19 points with five assists.

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle wasn’t ready to divulge that information yet, but star power forward Dirk Nowitzki said Calderon will remain the starter.

“We’re rolling the way we’re set up,” Nowitzki said, via ESPN Dallas. “Jose has been our starter the whole year. We’ve got to start the game off a little better. I think we were a little slow and we were down eight or 10 pretty quick there in the first quarter, so we’ve got to be a little better there, but Jose is our starter. He’s the guy that puts us in our plays and we’re rolling with it.”

The San Antonio Spurs have hoisted many awards over the last 15 years and now they are about to add another one.

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, the Spurs are holding a press conference to announce a winner of a major award on Tuesday.

McMenamin believes Spurs’ head coach Gregg Popovich is going to be named Coach of the Year on Tuesday, but as McMenamin points out, it could also be to name Manu Ginobili Sixth Man of the Year. Both are in contention for those awards and both are considered by many to be the favorites to win.

A year after losing to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals in seven games, Popovich led the Spurs to a league-best 62-20 record.

Ginobili averaged 12.3 points, 4.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game this season.
