Yeah, Harden never passes. Except he had the most assists of any 2 guard in the league.

If you are being sarcastic and I missed it, my bad.

    no because
    1)Martin can't play defense
    2) Martin is wiry lean body. Johnson is athletic
    3) Martin can't block shots
    4) Martin doesn't do alley oops

This kid is a steal. Goodbye jeremy f'n lin. Reminds me of Westbrook. This kid will thrive in houston.

    You have Harden.

You have your poor version of Westbrook.
You have your poor version of Ibaka (A-Capela)
You have the God version of Perkins (Not really)

    Where is Durant at?

I absolutely love this pick, I think he's gonna be a great combo guard off the bench.

Potential scoring weapon and defensively solid.

With his athleticism I'm surprised he didn't go much earlier tbh. Normally guys with that kind of explosiveness go VERY high in the draft. John Wall wasn't much more than a raw athlete when he was drafted, for example.

He lacks footwork and doesn't have a jumper. Dunking and defense isn't enough to take a 6ft 9 and a 1/2 guy very far.
Sorry: I thought you were referring to Clint Capela.

Stop comparing him to people who can't play defense.

Avery Bradley is the perfect ceiling comp for this kid. Menace defensively who develops a perimeter game

I have never seen the kids play, but his strengths sound promosing. It sounds like the type of player we need at the backup SG. Lets hope his talent level is high enough.

John Wall was much more than just a "raw athlete" coming out of college. He had the size, length, athletic ability and you could tell he had true PG skills that could be further developed (vision, handles, passing, footwork) in a SG's body. The only thing lacking was a good jump shot. You could tell he was going to be very good one day. His hype coming out was pretty major and rightfully so. He's finally put it all together the last year and half and he's very much on his way to being a superstar and living up to his #1 pick.

I do agree Johnson should've gone sooner though.. Not sure about much earlier but maybe around 25 or so.

I think a lot of board members are fascinated by his athleticism and dunking highlights which is great and all but I'm more excited about his hustle and willingness to play D. I've seen way too many guys who simply try to get by on athleticism fail.

Very excited about this pick! If he plays defense with anything near the intensity that his late Uncle DJ did, we're all going to love this kid. I was looking for Morey to snag a 3 and D player for perimeter depth, and while Johnson isn't as tall as we might have hoped for, he has the hops to make up for a lot of that. Remember all those surprising weak side blocks Bev gets? Look for a lot more of those from Nick Johnson. Morey strikes again in the second round!

Eat the head. Johnson's name isn't as intriguing as Head Love Gay.

You can say all you want about Kevin McHale's lack of defensive coaching ability but you the only players to break into the rotation as rookies for him have been defensive oriented players.

Parsons and Beverley were both defensive studs as a rookie and they are the only rookies to turn into rotation players for McHale. If Johnson really is a defensive stud then he has very real chance at a spot in the rotation early on.

If he can develop any sort of consistent 3pt shot then he could be a very nice offensive player considering how you can't really let a guy with hops like that close to the basket.
