Another bomb for Fontana. He has big time opposite field power.

I'm feeling Casey Candaele, but all similar players.

    Bruntlett, more bat, less glove?

I do like the Spiers comparison. He's on my personal all-time-favorite Astros team

He's the next Jeff Keppinger....great eye, ultra selective, but ultimately can still be pitched to.

Anyone know what kind of crowd the Hooks got at Minute Maid Park?

Preston Tucker looks pretty legit to me. I know he is 23 but seems to be hitting his stride and should be called up to AAA if Santana makes the jump at some point. I know most people discussed how little power we have in the minors especially in corner positions but between Tucker and Santana I am confident one will turn into an above average starter if not both. They could probably promote Tucker to AAA and keep Santana in AAA as well if needed but it would be nice if one or both were at least September callus to see what they can do.

I think Tucker is described as a typical Luhnow MLB contributor but is there any reason why can't be an everyday regular? Seems like he has shown more power than any of the Cardinals players that Luhnow drafted. Maybe he won't hit for as high of an average or get as many walks but the power seems pretty legit. So what say you? 4th or 5th OF type or potential starting LF and/or RF type of talent if at all comes together? Tucker seems like he could be a David Murphy type with a little more pop. Also, seems like a potential option at 1B or DH if needed.

His potential seems a little underrated but maybe because I value consistent pop at a young age in the minors. It didn't seem like it used to be like that. If a player hit 20+ home runs under the age of 22 he would have an incredible chance at being a regular. Maybe it is the Astros barren minors of the 2000's that has me thinking this way but I am interested to see what he can do in the pros. I also know power doesn't always translate so maybe that is the knock against him. Also, he must not make a lot of contact due to his low average.

That's 5330 less people that didn't show up to my wedding. :)

It sounds like a lot when I think of it like that.

Tucker is frequently compared to Allen Craig, who Luhnow drafted in St Louis.

That is what I thought. Would be great if he turns into Craig. He can play all over the field. I thought Craig played 1B more than OF but he actually is playing more in the outfield this year than the past couple of years. Would be ecstatic if he turns into a LH hitting Allen Craig at LF or RF instead of 1B.

Except Fontana steals more bases, walks a lot more and doesn't hit for as high an average..
