It's been a mildly disappointing season for Correa, some of us hoped he would dominate Lancaster and move quickly to CC. He hasn't dominated, but he's still been really good. I expect to see him in CC at some point, and that early 2015 ETA most of us projected is still very much in play. With the massive night last night, his OPS on the season is up to .864, his OPS in May is up to .892 and his power stroke has really come on recently. He's actually hit better away from the hangar. Odd split, he's only gone 4/45 on the season against lefties. Considering he's right handed it doesn't really raise a flag, but it is weird to see that extreme a split.
Agree the numbers are very good but not great. I will say that from what I have read and heard the scouts still feel exactly the same about him and his ability. He has also fought nagging injuries.
Looking at the box scores, looks like Conrad Gregor was promoted from Quad Cities to Lancaster yesterday. He went 2-4 with two singles and a CS. Maybe the Hanger helps his power play up.
Not sure if "quietly" is the right word, but Correa is just killing it recently. In his past 19 games (7 home/12 away), Correa has a triple slash of .329/.398/.532 for an OPS of .926 while producing 3 homers, 26 RBI, and stealing 7 bases. Sure, it is a small sample size, but those are some impressive numbers of an already impressive season. I wonder if he stands a chance of being called up to AA this summer instead of playing a full season in Lancaster...
True, but managers and the FO are two completely different things. I couldn't recall if they had tipped that Correa may split some time between both this year.
Wasn't it noted that he was the best player in spring training this year? Kid is probably ready for the big show. Take it slow sure, but I am highly intrigued about the kids power numbers in the next coming years. He has potential to be the next A-Rod.
I remember them saying he was defensively ready. I just hope they don't slow play it. I would be surprised to see him not make it to Corpus this year, but I am hoping that he stands a chance to be a Super 2 call up next year.
River Bandits pitching pairs get a new look After beginning the season with a tandem pitching rotation — four sets of two pitchers who rotate starting and relief roles over an eight-game span — Quad-Cities River Bandits pitchers are now working with a different setup. The move is giving Quad-Cities pitchers more rest between appearances and providing additional time for instruction between outings. “Instead of three days of rest between outings, our guys now find themselves in a more traditional five-day or six-day rotation,’’ River Bandits pitching coach Dave Borkowski said. “I feel like it’s accomplishing what it is set out to do.’’ The pitchers who were part of the tandem rotation remain in roles where they are getting starts. But instead of using a pair of pitchers each day with none being allowed to work more than five innings in a game, the current arrangement encourages longer outings. The rotation begins with two sets of tandem starters, followed by one single starter, another tandem pair and then two single starters before rotating back to two sets of tandem starters. Each pitcher rotates through the new-look rotation, providing each with not only the starting and relief roles in the tandem but also single starts where River Bandits pitchers are encouraged to work as deep into games as they can. “They’re being given the opportunity to go out and see how long they can go with 100 pitches and I feel like that is helping guys learn how to work deeper into games,’’ Borkowski said. “When a guy moves up and he’s being asked to work into the seventh inning of a start, it’s not going to be foreign territory for him.’’ The chance for additional work during bullpen sessions between starts allows for more extensive developmental work. “There is some teaching time built in and that’s a good thing as guys at this level work to develop pitches,’’ he said.
Appel back to Lancaster, starting Saturday. Hope they don't have him on the tandem system and let him throw every 5 days
