That is good news. Some good news after Appel allows 7 runs in 1.2 innings. At least his night is over
7-1 now... Acc. to Luhnow, he was one or two good starts away from going to AA. Not sure what they do now.
GCL or IR rest of the season. Has there ever been a first overall pick that has been more of a heaping pile of dung than Appel?
I don't think they'll send him down... because if you do that and he fails there, it could definitely be the beginning of the end. Its either stay at A and define insanity... or promote him to see if its truly a mental thing. I wonder how long Appel's UCL is?
Probably but I doubt there was ever one that had such a "polished" "high floor" etc. who was such a pile of dung. WTF happened to this kid? He dominated college players and I know the low minors are better but yeesh....
It's at the point that they probably just need to shut him down and try to forget this season ever happened. Send him to the Arizona fall league maybe and try again next year at CC.
Wow. I never heard of this guy's story but he sounds like quite the cut up. He was allegedly intoxicated in a high school parking lot where he assaulted two freshman lacrosse players. At a party on March 30, he reportedly threw a baseball at a woman's head and banged on her car window after accusing her of drawing markings on his face at a party in Dunedin, Florida. Rays placed Bush on the restricted list after a drunken Bush ran over a 72-year-old man during spring training. However, statistically in the minors he was far better than Appel has been. He came up as a hitter from high school that could also pitch. After he failed as a hitter he had a 4.14 ERA in the minors while around the same age as Appel. Bush > Appel As a person Appel > Bush.
I agree, don't care if it is move him up or move him down, but get him out of there I'm sure they don't want to just move him and say it is because of the park, and make their choice of an affiliate look bad, but get him the hell out of there now
Agreed... although tonight, he gave up a bunch of singles, and line drives... not necessarily "cheap" HR's or hits influenced by the park/altitude. He needs to be moved somewhere else... but he also needs to start missing some bats as well.
