Not good news for the Lakers because Nick Young has a torn ligament in his right thumb and will miss about eight weeks.

Sorry I screwed up the time of the NBATV Real Training Camp: Lakers. It's 4PM EST and check your local listings for reruns.
Still streaming on NBA.com but I don't know for how much longer w/Reggie Miller and Rick Fox. Byron Scott is running the team into the ground with conditioning drills. The Lakers are either going to surprise people or they're going to be absolutely terrible. Steve Nash tweaked his foot/ankle when he stepped on a foot while running drills. On a side note, lots of Rockets hate from NBATV guys Steve Smith, Reggie Miller and Rick Fox all predict Houston miss the playoffs.
its par of the course with these idiots. Rick Fox thought we would be an 8th seed last year.. you knew since we got a smidge worse they would put us in the lottery. I mean, Las Vegas says we are going to win the 4th most games in the League. Gambling is a business in Las Vegas! They know what they are talking about.
**** those guys. I think I'm going to like this year a lot more than last year. I much prefer to be playing as the underdog.
I need to make a correction. Steve Smith predicted the Rockets would finish 8th in the west, but said it would be close between Houston, Denver, Phoenix and New Orleans for the last spot. (This was on Real Training Camp: Portland). Rick Fox picked Denver to finish 8th and Reggie Miller picked New Orleans. (This was on Real Training Camp: L.A. Lakers).
Oddsmakers in Vegas don't make the odds based on what they think, but more so on what they think will get even money on both sides. For NBA wins, they usually put the number close to where the teams finished the previous season because it will get homer fans to bet their teams thinking they will do better. With the exception of the Cavs and Heat, I don't think there's too many differences in the wins predicted for this season vs the actual results last year. That said, I'd say the smart money would to be to bet under 55 on Rockets wins this season. They were lacking in depth last season and after dumping Parsons, Lin, and Asik, they must have among the worst bench in the Western Conference. Morey does not appear to have any intent on building a winning team as he only wants to market that he's signing star players so that he can sell more tickets and jerseys. I think I'm being objective when I say that there are 7 teams that are clearly better than the Rockets next season and they are the following: Thunder, Clippers, Spurs, Warriors, Pelicans, and Grizzlies. (Hell, with Asik allowing Davis to move to his more comfortable 4 spot, I wouldn't be surprised if the Pelicans were a top 3 team in the West.) The Rockets should be the #8 seed, but the Mavs, Suns, and Lakers (pending health) have a shot at taking that spot. I was called a troll for mentioning this, but it's not so farfetched. The Rockets essentially have two good players and both of them have clear flaws that apparently nobody wants to admit to on this site. Morey's biggest mistake was going after Howard when he already had an effective center in Asik. Instead, he should have tried to pair Asik up with an all star caliber power forward. Anyway, since the Rockets had an attendance problem, I'm sure that's why Morey's job is to address that and not so much on winning championships. But signing the biggest douchebag player in the NBA seems sort of backwards.
