The Lakers have publicly denied all intention of tanking-- as most tanking teams do. Don't know why they even bother, but it's part of that "old school" thinking or whatever. Forget about Lin and forget about even tanking for draft pick, I am not sure why they are even keeping Boozer around instead of using that roster slot. Sign some young guy to one of those 1+1 deals (remainder of season, plus non-guaranteed next season) just to take a look at them. You might luck into a rotation player like Pat Beverley or even someone who shocks everyone like Hassan Whiteside. Why keep any of those guys who are not gonna be on the 2015-16 Lakers around?
I was talking about the excitement of Linsanity brought to the world, which Harden had not come close to. If you are talking about fame, you don't know what Linsanity is.
You keep them around because it keeps options open and so you can keep up the claim that you aren't tanking. Not that anything good is likely to come of it, but there is no point throwing away the lottery ticket before the lottery just because the odds of winning are so low. You already bought it, after all. They claim they aren't tanking because their revenue stream is tied to ratings by their contract, and if they admit they are tanking they lose yet more viewers. So if something weird happens and Durant and Westbrook fall out, or they suddenly find themselves with Love, or ... whatever... they have a few non-rookies they can mix and match with whatever falls in their lap. That said, I wouldn't exactly be suprised if they bought Boozer and/or Lin out.
They really have no choice but to keep losing. They win, they lose their pick, hence they lose, BIG. They lose, they keep their top 5 pick. The system should be fixed to discourage losing, I reckon. Not sure how one would do it, but it should be fixed cos it just doesnt do the game any good.
Yao was better than most of the players in the NBA. Is he some minimum level below which you are no longer allowed to like anyone? If so, I guess I only like Harden on the current Rockets. Seems a bit limiting, though.
Jeremy lin is a player who puts bible verses on twitter page when things don't go well for him. Doesn't take responsibility for his bad play, claims it as a divine test from a higher power.
