i completely agree. as far as im concerned, dallas is the better team as their only loss came against the spurs by 1 point. they are a championship team with an elite coach who knows how to win games and put it away when it matters... it just sucks that CP had to go to dallas out of all places
The team in Dallas right now is not a championship team. That team was broken up soon after they won. This Dallas team is just an illusion.
They can make it to the Finals. No one penciled that team in 2011, and they did it as the 3rd seed. The same thing can happen this year. The offensive load is lifted off of Dirk now. Elite coaching remains...this is a great year for them to make a run.
This. There will be times that the Rockets really miss Parsons. He is relentless on the offensive end and his size and shooting ability make him a handful. However his defense is really bad. Harden got a lot of criticism for his defense, but Parsons was every bit as bad if not worse. Now the Mavericks are in a situation where they have a poor defensive SG, SF and PF that positions well but is physically limited. They are going to be a lot of fun and out shoot some good teams, but unless Carlisle gets them to magically defend, they are going no where.
You can't make it to the finals in the NBA without good perimeter defenders. The Mavs had Stevenson and Marion in 2011. This year they have Ellis and Parsons. The points and pace will slow in the postseason for the Mavs and they don't have many players that can grind.
Now I didn't say Dallas had the better team... But they do have a better coach. The NBA season is too long to try to judge at this point IMO. I'm just looking to see if Parsons will be worth that contract... Wish Morey would have traded him instead of letting him walk without getting nothing in return.
Morey had no intentions of trading him. They wanted to sign him along with Bosh. Morey couldn't have anticipated Cuban giving him that awful contract. Not sure why that is so hard for people to understand
I don't care how good they are on offense, their terrible defense will make it tough for them to even get out of the first round much less make it to the finals. Only LA and Utah have been worse than Dallas so far on defense. It's still very early, but Tyson alone isn't going to make them a good defense. They won't be 28th but they won't be where they need to be to go far.
i'm not surprised with his production, just his stupid smack talk. at least we've got the mavs vs rockets rivalry going strong again
Parsons had 29 points last game but only 2 assists and 3 rebounds. Dude's a ball hog. Meanwhile, Ariza had 24 points last game but 7 assists and 6 rebounds. He still got 24 points while doling out 7 assists. He was nearing triple double territory. That's not even factoring in the defense we get from Ariza. Stick it, Parsons!!! We got the better player for much less money! Wooo!!! Cuban sure stuck it to us. We're hurting so bad without pretty boy Parsons. Take that, Morey! LOL
he is relentless on offense? His size creates mis-matches? Never seen that nook. I've seen him get hot from three. I've seen him make a couple nice drives but not be able to do so consistently. I've rarely seen him create for others. I've never seen him use his height to post a player and hammer it home, something that would be relentless. The reality is, he's a plus offensive player but in so becoming, he's lost the defensive integrity, put-back worker mentality grit, that got him to the nba and made him such a high value for contract. Last year, I personally thought he sucked ass. I didn't want Chandler Pretty boy. I wanted Chandler Bang.
You came to that conclusion from one single game? Impressive. Oh and Im pretty sure when someone is shooting almost 70% overall and 80% 3P% in a game, you dont really want him to do more assists but shoot the ball. So that's a bad thing now? Okay... And last time I checked he isnt a point guard so there is no need for 10 assists a game. Furthermore most of his points were either wide open 3 pointers or fastbreaks where he simply couldnt pass the ball because he would give up an easy layup, just looking at the stats and ignoring the game is a stupid thing to do. Anyway, just 4 games into the season is way too early to even talk about stats, one bad/good game has too much influence right now. And I guess by your definition Nowitzki is a ball hog as well, averaging under 3 assists during his career. Damn, what a bad player and ball hog he is, right?
