What is he now the 4th option? Gets shafted sideways by Rondo?

lol @ the Mavs but it's too early to know for sure that this is potentially a disaster for them. The Rockets and Mavs are similar in the sense that their PG (prior to Rondo trade) didn't demand touches, but their SG needs tons of touches. Jameer Nelson was there to basically be a mediocre PG who had 3pt range, while Monta Ellis faciliated the offense. Bev is the same in terms of not needing the ball, but he is an elite lockdown defender and much better 3pt shooter than Jameer.

The problem for the Mavs now is Rondo's game changes everything, and he is not a threat whatsoever from 3 pt, meaning guys like Parsons, Ellis, Dirk can be focused on more. Their bench is also a disaster. Had the Rockets gotten Rondo it would have been an even worse disaster as Harden is way way way more efficient with the ball than Rondo is, and we need Bev playing all the minutes he can handle.

Parsons will probably come around cuz Carlilse is a great coach, but even if he gets the opportunities to drive, the defenders will simply come over to help and leave Rondo wide open.

Ariza is slightly better than Parsons.

Parsons has above average offense and terrible defense.

Ariza has elite defense and average offense.

    Net net, Trevor is better.

Where the F are all these posters talking about how Rondo makes Dallas a contender? Where are all these sweet looks Parsons, Dirk and Monta are supposed to get with Rondo?

I told you guys Rondo would make the best offense in the NBA worse. This is why you never go "all in" Ironic thing is, Monta, Parsons and Wright could've been a nice stopgap while Dallas retools in the next few years, now they have nothing and just effectively closed the window on Dirk being relevant in the league.

Btw Brendan Wright is continuing his fine play, averaging 5 pts and 3 rebs in just 13 mins. If Boston was serious about winning they'd play him 36 mins and then he'd average 15 pts and 8 rebs on 56 TS%.

A lot of people in the Rondo threads predicted trouble -- it's not an exclusive intellectual property issue, okay?

I thought it was a very risky trade. I also am not going to judge it after a few games. #thinkpeople

That was also when he was playing with 3 deadly scorers in KG, Pierce and Ray Allen lol. I agree with rolling the dice but IMHo this just isn't the way to do it, breaking up the Mavs champ team to get a chance at D-D-D was an example of a smart gamble, in this case all indications (injury history, broken J, need to handle the ball) point to Rondo being a bad fit on the Mavs team so IMHO it was a stupid trade to do, they were just searching for "names" without regard to how the pieces would fit. You can do that with superstars like Lebron and Wade, but if you have guys who are massively flawed then you need to take fit into account when building a team, the Mavs already had a team that can give you one of the best offenses in history, they just needed a Bev like dude and some depth and they could've become one of the top teams in the L, now they just destroyed their season+gave themselves a headache regarding whether to pay up and keep Rondo or let him walk away after they traded Wright for him.

I'm a little hesitant to call it a bad trade, because look how much worse the Kidd stunt looked when they traded for him. Dallas was in the midst of their tear on the WC and were top 3 seed before they traded for him. They fell to a bottom seed shortly after, and it took 2-3 more years before they got a ring. Carlisle is the type of guy that makes things work, it still too premature.

Not sure how anybody can say Ariza has been average on offense thus far. He's been downright bad.

However...for the Rockets, his elite defense at half the cost of Parsons makes him the more valuable player.

That was in the old Western conference. This new Western conference does not forgive mistakes as easily.

I watched the Dallas game last night. As usual the starting unit was able to score. Having Greg smith as backup center and Charlie V. as a backup PF should be enough to let you know how Phoenix won the game. + the fact that Parsons shot doesn't look good at all.

Yeah, it is going to trend that way. Rondo/Monta/Dirk are going to control all of the shots ball possessions.

Chandler's best bet is to evolve his game into more of a 3-D guy. He just wont have the chance to freelance with the ball anymore with Rondo.

Dallas' perimeter defense was awful! The Suns were driving/attacking at will!

Made me want to have Dragic on the Rockets even more! :)

Parsons likes the pump fake - drive -shoot.
Rondo likes the fake pass -drive-shoot

Too many fake outs on the Mavs team.

funny reading all the posters that were crying to morey to sign him for the max post on this thread that he isnt very good after all. Fans get so easily attached to their players that it clouds their judgement. Just like all these posters that keep saying D-Mo is untouchable and they wouldnt trade him for dragic.
