That pitching staff is some kind of ugly. I saw on the ESPN crawl the other day that Andy Pettite was going to be on this team. Did that not come to pass?
Interesting news down south of the border. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/majors/international-affairs/world-baseball-classic/2013/2614556.html
I heard about this as well. Basically the Mexican League and governing body of Mexico Baseball are in a pissing match. I actually don't think it's all bad for Mexico. If what John Manuel and JJ Cooper of Baseball America say is true, the group that is putting the team together is doubling down on players that play in the US. Supposedly they reached out and talked Adrian Gonzalez into being the "captain" and recruiting coordinator of this squad and he got some guys to commit that may not have otherwise. Also, I'm not entirely sure that guys from the Mexican League would have played all that big a role anyway. The team is pretty set with just big league guys. The only place they might have been needed is the outfield, but I think that's why Karim Garcia is on this roster and they can also rotate Alfredo Amezega to the outfield.
