Yep the updates generally come out the day after it's announced or a couple of days after. And there's also a manual way to do it too if you don't want to wait for the OTA update by downloading the image through Google and then flashing it yourself. That's one of the major reasons I love Nexus devices, the updates come out fast and I've had the best experience with a smartphone running pure stock Android.

What a pipe dream! Any electronic engineer worth his salt will tell you this design is nigh impossible to achieve. And it's ugly, to boot. It would never fly with the general public.
Why would you say it is impossible to do? You could overcome the lack of pins using serial connections, but there would some trade offs.
One reason why Apple is shredding PCs a new ******* is because it can deliver custom designed products at comparable to better price to something you'd get similar on a PC. I don't think it'd reduce that much waste since lazy people would probably junk their entire phone for a newly built model (like a PC). There'll be an opportunity for this kind of phone, but I think it'll mostly succeed when technology becomes saturated to the point where switching blocks is effortless and cheap. That would also eliminate the economies of scale needed to make upgrading parts as cheap as getting the part itself. Right now, phones are status symbols and increasingly complicated tools. This would only appeal to a subsegment of the Android crowd. And the original purpose of it, to reduce waste, isn't even fully thought out.
Shredding what? With their single digit market share? Sure in the phone world they are up, tablets too, but in terms of computers PCs are still king and will be for some time.

have to say that this moto x has grown on me quite a bit. it moves as quick as any other top tier smartphone out there. size is hand appropriate (feels better to hold than any other). had to get another after returning the other within return period (could handle the suspect build quality on the first). this one is fine. closest thing you can get to pure google than a nexus. that being said, it'll definitely be on eBay or swappa after purchasing a nexus 5.
Best buy running a special 100$ off upgrade + 2 years for iphone 5 = free. Have another thing i signed up for at BB where I'll also get 50$ gift card so pretty much they're giving me 50$ to get the iphone. (2 year contract with last years model) Would you rather go that route or pay out of pocket 50-100$ for something newer/"advanced" s4,one,moto x...etc (on Sprint) Really only use phone for calls/msgs/lots of surfing and the occasional game or two. only requirement i have is i want it to be able to wireless tether and easily open up a pdf/word doc when necessary.good battery is a plus also.not sure how easy that is on ios but i think i would have to jailbreak it for free tether. Have they even jailbroken the latest ios yet? that would be pretty annoying
I got it just last week. It's a pretty slick phone. The biggest complaints against it are poor quality of materials (plastic back) but I have a case on it so it's not like I even notice. The screen is amazing. The processor flies. And the UI, despite complaints about being archaic, is actually pretty functional. 3000 mAh battery is supposed to have huge battery life. Loving this phone. Only complaint is all reviews (engadget, slashgear etc) are claiming 16-24 hours of battery life even with relatively heavy use. I don't know if my use is even heavier than theirs but I'm pulling about 12 hours. (Not that that's bad but just saying). Highly recommend the phone.
i just bought my first smart phone eva! ok, it's only a Lumia 520 but so far i like what it can do. haven't even used it for calls yet. since i'm a newb at that this unlocking stuff i hope someone can help me. the phone is ATT locked. however, i may want to go to Straight Talk. i don't care for data and ST's plans seem cheaper. the phone did come with what i assume is an ATT micro sim card. do i need to unlock it before i can use it with ST?
