Punishment for some sort of transgression. Like pledging a frat and being publicly embarrassed for forgetting a founding members goldfishes name or something. Very much deserved.....but still a sign of immaturity which is hopefully something he can overcome.
I trust that respected leaders like Cush, Watt, Ninja, and Ed will show these young bucks the ropes. They're in good hands.
Its the NFL...you are gonna play against the big boys...and he will get a challenge...the Texans have some really good teams on tap for this year...
I'm pleased overall with the first 3 rounds. The last 3 picks were definitely not the sexiest picks but it looks like we nab some top flight talent without having to move up or reach on any players. I still want them to take a chance on Da'rick Rogers later in the draft since there's no real solid prospect at inside linebacker.
It's what ESPN has listed for him. I don't know where they got it, probably a typo. He ran a 4.81 at the combine and a 4.82 at LSU's pro day.
I wouldn't worry too much. That's LSU strength coach Tommy Moffitt all the way. He's like the Nick Saban of S&C coaches. No doubt he shames player's who don't squat using proper technique or something just as small. It's why LSU has the most incredibly conditioned players in the SEC. 1:19 is relevant to our interests. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sfQH_m0zPu0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Loving Montgomery already. He just gave himself a nickname. Ninja Sonic. I read that when he was in high school, his older brother was working security at a bar and was shot and killed. Montgomery often thinks of playing Sonic the Hedgehog with his older brother when they were kids, and says that's what motivates him to have such a high motor on the field. I think he'll fit right in with our personalities. Kubiak probably loves this... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QWuUHqSLs30?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Source told me "there is no way that the Texans have all the info on Sam Montgomery.... even WE took him off the board." Yikes. @LanceZierlein
That just seems weird. What is that supposed to mean, they don't have all the info? Either way, I'm fine with drafting him. He seems to be a boom or bust- type pick. Using an extra draft pick on someone like that is a risk we should take at this point.
Listening to his interviews, there's something that just isn't right. I understand the honesty and I like that, but his tone when he's speaking sounds as if he's joking. I can't really put it into words, but to me it doesn't seem like it's all there. <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Nm9kXBMQATM?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Nm9kXBMQATM?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
idk i didn't really see anything wrong with it. Hopefully he performs on the field. He can say all the wacky stuff he wants as long as he's producing
I've met him a few times here at LSU. He seems like a nice guy, just a little different. It is no secret that his coaches purposely blasted him to NFL scouts. That was one of the biggest reasons he dropped. With that being said, he still started almost every game the last two years. His talent is off the charts, and when he really gets amped up for a game ('Bama, Florida, etc.) he is nearly unstoppable... He plays with tremendous emotion, and is a bit volatile at times. Really one of his biggest problems was that when we played **** teams (North Texas, Idaho, etc.) he didn't play with the same intensity. I doubt this is a problem in the NFL, because every single team has talent. A few more thoughts on his issues with LSU coaches. There are a lot of LSU players that have strained relationships with their coaches. Plenty of them disagree about playing time, play calling, etc. So it really isn't that surprising. However, despite these grievances, he was still a major contributor and one of the leaders of our defense. The coaches obviously trusted him on the field, mostly because he has undeniable talent. I expect he'll contribute and play well in the NFL. Good pick Texans.
His agent talks a bit about him : http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/49549/montgomery-could-be-handful-for-texans
