The fact that we beat the Cardinals in 05 during our World Series run and since then these MOFO's have gone to the world series 2 or 3 ******* times, that pisses me off!!! We're suppose to be that team that goes to the World Series 2 or 3 times not the Cardinals. What did the Astros do to deserve this fate??

They just won their 19th pennant and are looking for their 12th WS championship.

I think Astros fans have no choice but to acknowledge that they'll never get to the level of success that the historical teams end up achieving over all the years (Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals in the NL).

I respect them. They must have intangibles built into the franchises that prevent them from ever being bad for long.

I'm not sure I'd put the Giants in that mix. Their WS success is very recent since the move to SF.

They still have 22 total pennants (second most all-time in the NL), and 3 in the last 15 years (with 2 titles).

That makes them not only one of the most historically successful NL franchises, but also one of the most recently successful as well (like the Cardinals)

Plus, they'll always be a part of the most famous baseball radio call ever. And, I don't consider them and the Dodgers being a relocated team as a slight against the franchise... these teams had to get out of congested NY, and there would have been teams out west eventually. Might as well have them be teams with history, vs. expansion ones.

You're absolutely right. It just seems like they've been "spotty" good through most of my lifetime, aside from the past two championships they won.

I think SF fans felt like "FINALLY!!" when they won that first WS there. It had been a long time coming. Longer than we've waited on the Astros to win one.

    Agreed.

The good/bad news is that it will be a long time for the Astros to come close to any of the other AL droughts on championships!

    Ugh.

cardinals are one of the best run organizations. They know what wins baseball games (pitching). They almost always have strong starters. They don't waste money, they didn't resign pujols, which was a tough decision but look how it turned out now.

I don't watch baseball like I used to but what is up with the bashing of Yansiel Puig? I understand he is cocky but he is a rookie and rookies make mistakes. He came in to the Major Leagues in June.

They don't treat rookies like they used to

Well, I really didn't want the Cardinals to win. But they did, and I will cheer for them against any American League team in the series.

I don't think it's just that he's cocky, although that's certainly part of it. I think it's that he's cocky and then too often, he just makes bone-headed mistakes. Right or wrong, I think that attitude combined with the mistakes give people the impression that he's aloof and only cares about himself.

His mistakes (like missing the cutoff man) also lead to lots of great plays (like throwing runners out). The problem with the Cardinals wasn't that they were even upset with Puig - they were upset with Adrian Gonzalez for celebrating his double too. Meanwhile:

It's not just whininess, but hypocritical whininess.
