what a bum. i guess he'd rather use and play (for a little while) than not use and not be good enough to play.
This part seems a bit ridiculous: Widespread amphetamine use throughout baseball led to a crackdown in 2006, though the drugs remain prevalent in clubhouses through therapeutic-use exemptions granted by MLB’s medical staff. Last season, the league gave 116 TUEs for players diagnosed with attention deficit disorder, allowing them to use drugs prescribed to treat ADD without repercussions. 116 players? 15% of MLB players have ADD?
My college experience says that at least that may college students suffer from ADD. One of the most over-diagnosed conditions. People get scripts just to re-sell them. It is a huge market on college campuses and apparently professional sports.

Gotta admit - I'm not a baseball fan, and I usually hate the Yankees, but I'm definitely rooting for A-Rod. His trolling of Dempster/Boston/Papi HR celebration tonight was masterful. I hope he tears it up the rest of the season and leads the Yankees to a title. THAT would really put the MLB on tilt lol.
He's not even going to miss a start. MLB players don't get any game checks deducted for suspensions resulting from on-field incidents. His fine was $2500. So basically his entire punishment is $2500.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/9602399/matt-harvey-new-york-mets-partial-tear-elbow Matt Harvey has a tear of his UCL. May need TJS.
He should be healthy just in time to re-join a better team. I think the evidence is pretty clear that TJS no longer ends careers... in fact, it strengthens elbows significantly. Still have to wonder about Strasburg last season... may have been one of their best chances to win a World Series. Guess we will know in ~3-4 years when/if he leaves as a free agent.
