Cardinals trade David Freese for Peter Bourjos (LAA) Pretty stunning if you ask me. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/1...peter-bourjos-st-louis-cardinals-david-freese
Why would the Cardinals do this? Dont they have Oscar Tavarez, the CF of the future? Borjous is much better suited for CF.
They're making room for Kolten Wong at second base by trading Freese and moving Carpenter to third. Wong is one of the best second base prospects in baseball.
Pretty obvious the PED penalty just isn't enough. Dude gets suspended for 50 games and then signs a $52 million deal. Ridiculous. Maybe they need to make it a 2 year suspension. That would put a little fear into people thinking about doing it.
Yup^^

It pays to cheat...Thanks, owners, for encouraging PED use “@JimBowdenESPNxm: Peralta - Cards agree to 4-year deal: http://t.co/rkpdAO3QaL”
— Brad Ziegler (@BradZiegler) November 24, 2013

People really don't understand how this works. That is a ridiculous contract for Haren considering his ERA the last 2 years have been 4.33 in 2012 and 4.67 in 2013. I don't under how he could sign a contract for only $3 million less than he signed for with the Nationals. I think it's a good move for the Dodgers in that money isn't an issue. The Cardinals got a good deal with Peralta. I wouldn't want the Astros to sign him (we went through that with Miguel Tejada).
Nats acquire Doug Fister from Detroit.

#Nationals confirm it. So many scrub players are getting paid. You can make more money as scrub baseball players than a superstar non qb football player.
Since when 20M+ per year contract is the standard salary for a good MLB player? SMH. Stupid Yankees overpays players again. This franchise never learns. Stupid.
Since owners got tax-payer funded stadiums, 50 million per team in national tv money annually, and average local tv deals that pay 50+ million a year. Owners are absolutely rolling in dough.
Sad to see Lombo go as he was a fan favorite. Pretty sick rotation though with Strasburg/Gio/Zimmerman/Fister. On paper they should be right there in the thick of things again...the rest is up to the baseball gods.
